Off the pitch, Hillsborough or Hysel, obviously.
On it, that Michael Thomas goal hurt me more than anything else ever, that side never deserved that to happen to them. So so cruel, and far worse for me than losing a one-off cup final, whatever the ramifications or context.I could not dig, I dared not rob:
Therefore I lied to please the mob.
Now all my lies are proved untrue
And I must face the men I slew.
What tale shall serve me here among
Mine angry and defrauded young?

Certainly in terms of pain and anguish caused by one result, that would be it.Originally posted by MrMichael View PostOff the pitch, Hillsborough or Hysel, obviously.

If we won it, it would have been hollow, and I dont think we'd have got out of there alive. Dont Think the European Cup should have been contested at all after that.Originally posted by Red_Polo View PostYeah but who really cared about the result of the game? It was hardly going to be a cause of celebration after what happened.
If I had a pound for every time I heard that I'd be very rich. Arsenal ******s :whatever:Originally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostCertainly in terms of pain and anguish caused by one result, that would be it.

AgreeOriginally posted by Rocket View PostEuropean cup, HeyselI think it's a foul, and if the ref gives it. He got to give a penalty. I know it's outside the box, but you see them given that close to the area. So if the ref gives it he's got to give the penalty as it so close to the area. But I think it's a penalty. Are you watching Manchester United? Are you watching Chelsea? This is Liverpool F.C taking over the bloody world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with all of the above. One result however, that gets me Bitter and Twisted is the derby v BLUE****E when Danny Cadematteri (sp) scored at woodison. If that was reversed Bolton could still have lost at Chelsea (which they did) on the last day and the Bluescum would have got relegated. The Bluenose pitch invasion after gaining a DRAW v Coventry anoys me as well . Dreams, Dreams !!

The blue****e are due to have a bad season next season so lets hope that finally they get relegated.Liverpool born and bred.

That would be my choice for so many reasonsOriginally posted by ShaggyAlonso View PostThe 77 Cup Final against the Mancs, no question.
The other two games that spring to mind are, of course, the Arsenal 89 game and the 96 Cup final.
Most important it would have given us the Treble 22 yrs before Utd did it.
Would also have given Paisley a FA cup winners medal

If we had lost the FA cup quater final in 1989 then we would have 96 friends to join us on this topic.
Also without the harrowing times that followed and the fixture pile up we would have won the league that season and not Arsenal.
Also European cup semi final 85.
Without that there would have been no Heysel, no ban in Europe, the side we had for the next few years would have won many more "Big Ears" the club would have continued to develop at the highest standard, Souness would not have become manager and the mancs would never have ever got a sniff.CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP CLAPCLAPCLAPCLAP DALGLISH!

In 77 I was 5 and don't remember much about the FA Cup, strangely though I do have memories of the European Cup Final that year, but the result in the FA Cup and it's significance now is unreal.Originally posted by Quinncy View Post
However because of Hillsborough happening the same year and the team that we had and everything else I think we deserved to win the league and cup double in 89. Prior to that I had never felt so gutted about losing a game.
Wimbledon the year before was hard especially as me oul buddy Aldo missed a pen but nothing like losing the league in the last minute of the last game of the season.
Heysel was a non event in terms of the game and should never have been played so I would only change one thing that night and that was what happened in the stands.
Hillsborough we would all like to change or at very least justice should be served.

Going into the last game needing only a draw and seeing it snatched away in the last minute was a terrible feeling.Originally posted by redblood View PostIn 77 I was 5 and don't remember much about the FA Cup, strangely though I do have memories of the European Cup Final that year, but the result in the FA Cup and it's significance now is unreal.
