People were suspsicious of them when they took over, we'd been sold on the DIC bid by Parry to the extent that people were genuinely concerned that we missed out on the best possible deal for our club and ended up with these chancers because they were the only party in town. So these yanks, noting how badly an American takeover was received at Man U, decide to mount a massive PR campaign to win over the sceptical supporters, promising to compete with Man U and primising the manager the players he wants. Now let's see if any of these promises are kept.

Whether we were naive or not to believe it is irrelevant - if the yanks go back on their word then they're proven to lack integrity, and some one with no integrity should not be running this once proud and great club.

You are right. I've been down on them since day 1, because I was suspicious of them, I never trusted them and still dont. The only thing about them that has impressed me is the action they've taken over the stadium.

I was concerned about Americans taking over the club because they know little about "soccer", they admitted as much themselves. Gillett admitted he looked at a different club before buying us. The difference with DIC, as I've always maintained, is that they professed to (or at least the guy initiating the bid) being Liverpool fans. This suggested to me they would not have profit as their sole aim, the best interests of the club would be at the forefront. Even when Gillett and Hicks came in they were talking about TV contracts.

I'm guilty of judging the Americans without giving them a fair chance. I haven't given them the benefit of the doubt. I admit it. But you know what, I love the club, but that doesn't mean I have to accept at face value everything the owners feed us. As a fan who has the best interests of the club at heart, it is my prerogative to be concerned about the way it is heading and be suspicious of the people who are seemingly running it for profit. I dont apologise for that.

I pray for the day soon, when Rafa, with the financial backing of the yanks, brings home #19. When that happens I will come on here and admit how wong I was to pre-judged the Americans and how grateful I am to them for helping to make one of my long-held dreams come true.

Until that day though, I will continue to be suspicious of them.

Thats right, shoot the messenger. A lot of negativity toward Count Morpheo on this thread. You should check out his posts acuracy on the liverpool way before bad mouthing the guy. He doesn't post often, but when he does he gets respect for what he brings.
The same hostility toward Bascombe, he's been slagged from pillar to post for being a scaremonger. Bascombe's biggest mistake ever was sticking with Houllier for too long. But Bascombe's a Red through and through and a concerned one at that. He knows what he is talking about when it comes to Liverpool. If any journalist knows what is going on at LFC, it is him.

Notice how many times he mentions "council meeting to discuss stadium plans". He mentions those words 10 times, to be exact. He also says that everything else will stay the same as in previous seasons. Cryptically, Bascombe is trying to get the message across that the Yanks have got nothing to offer Liverpool except their - revenue generating - stadium plans (if we ever see a stadium that is).
As for trusting our new owners more than The Count and Bascombe, maybe you should check this link out (old but relevent) and consider the widespread rumors that the club is surviving on its overdraft, the same overdraft that paid for Lucas Leiva.

Sorry Dhavlos, if you think DIC were going to buy LFC without profit being the main motivating factor then, my friend, you are naive. They are an investment company, they exist to make money, that's a fact. If they weren't interested in making money then why didn't they just outbid Gilett? They have the resources to do that many times over.
I can hardly believe you don't apply the same suspicious nature to DIC as you do to H&G especially when you consider the leaked document to sell LFC within 7 years.

I think, sadly, it might be a bit of "grass is always greener" for you. Just my own observation

who gives a ****. At the end of the day we just have to start the season in AUGUST. last few years we havent started playing until we were about 20 ******* points behind the leaders.

As long as we do that then I dont give a **** what the yanks do with there money.
