Well this is a great thread to read first thing in the morning!
The way I see it is that whatever the club has to spend is out of my hands, so I've decided not to worry about it any more - sleepless nights, arguments on here, whatever, it's not going to solve the transfer situation is it!
When G & H arrived they said that transfers and money available was 'player specific' so I'm going to go with that, and hope that Rafa can get the players he wants and deserves. Yes, we will have to sell too, and if the money raised from sales goes towards buying new players then all the better.
Let's hope we hear some positive news re new signings soon and I for one am not going to worry too much about it until we here some official news on that front.

To quote the best poster on TLW
"SERENITY NOW!'Remember, we're only adding to the nonsense.
Walking a lonely road one night, Nasruddin saw riders approaching. His imagination ran riot: he saw himself robbed or killed, so he climbed a wall into a graveyard and hid. Puzzled at his behaviour, the riders, who were followers of the Mullah, followed. Finding him cowering behind a grave, they asked "Great Sage, why are you hiding here?". "It's more complicated than you think" he replied, "I'm here because of you - and you're here because of me"

Right bunch of lambs they were last night, no wonder I don't go on to other forums (not that I have the time), everyone on there followed "the count's" story. Utter crap if ever I heard it.Originally posted by Abdul Alhazred View PostTo quote the best poster on TLW
"SERENITY NOW!'Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'
"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.
* After Tommy Lawrence had let in a fluke goal between his legs

Can you ask this joker why if this is the case Gerrard, Carra, Reina, Alonso, Sissoko and Hyypia have just or about to sign new contracts with the club?Originally posted by Tom View PostFull thread from "the count" on TLW here:
if you don't know the count he called the gillette takeover before anyone else
Summary of the count's posts today:
and
Can I officially say now: Bollocks, this if very bad indeed
Rafa: Here is your contract, please sign it - but note that I won't be here next season and there are no significant funds to build a team capable of winning the league but don't let that bother you and sign the contract anyway.Last edited by Snigger; 12-06-07, 10:57 AM.

Why did Reina say something about him speaking to Rafa and talking about his plans for the future and him being excited by them.Originally posted by Snigger View PostCan you ask this joker why if this is the case Gerrard, Carra, Reina, Alonso, Sissoko and Hyypia have just or about to sign new contracts with the club?

All this "we are skint" stuff doesn't add up at all.
Like I said last night, I'd rather chill for a while that go mental due to what someone on the internet told me, which happens to be contrary to what our owners have been saying numerous times in the media.--== Because the gang and the government is no different ==--

I havent read any further than this post and I wont bother to. This makes a lot of sense. This year, silly season has been more fraught and frenetic than all the rest of them and we're only just into June ffs. Too many stressheads knocking around who believe any bit of tat doing the rounds.Originally posted by bazza76 View PostDidn't the gillett take over almost happen over night though.
They asked to see the books, and the club were forced to let them inspect the books, we knew about Gillett way before he actually took over. Anyone can guess he will be the new owner IMO.
As for money to spend, I don't think Gillett and Hicks are as silly to test us the fans and Rafa this way.
As I said before, they know Rafa is one of the top coaches in the world, if not the top coach. They know they have to invest in the squad to get a return, loosing Rafa would cost them more if they didn't spend, and they know it.
Money will be available for transfer IMO, there is no way Rafa would accept crap after his outburst.
I know there has been no big transfer evidence yet from us. But atleast wait until a week into the end of the season in Spain before we start hearing anything of real substance. You would think Rafa has a close eye on Spain.
I could see us spending atleast £45m this summer (including player sales).
Nobody knows anything concrete. Lets just see how it unfolds.
The new mgmnt know that they need to invest to get success on the field which in turn equates to success financially. They know if they spout bull**** about giving Rafa money for him to get whoever he needs, then hamstring him with a small budget (relatively) he will probably walk. Then where does that leave their "investment". Labouring. Set back by 4 or 5 years. They then have to start from scratch. New players. New manager. New gelling time. All the ups and downs of forming a new team. Plus the cost of getting a whole new squad of players including expensive mistakes that will inevitably happen. Or they could just invest in Rafa, whose work in progress is coming along nicely, whose team is not a million miles off challenging and winning. So what do they do? Conduct a nice big fat PR campaign to put the word out Rafa has a small budget. Word filters through to various internet guru's who then spread the word to all us lot. There you go, thats the internet community PR campaign sorted. All they do is keep spouting the same kind of thing then to your local journos. Easy. Job done. Apologies if this has already been said.Bring Back Rafa Cakes

FLMAO at this thread and some responses up to page 2 - i've only just noticed it.
- Part of the deal to buy Liverpool was to invest 30m in the squad each season.
- They know if they are to build a stadium they will need to have a team fit to play in it.
- Players have just signed new deals.
- Never trust a count who refers to himself in the third person.
I've lost the will to continue in this ****fest....
