Given Istanbul I wasn't that heart broken by the final because we win some we lose some... I was proud we got there.Originally posted by PC Plod View PostIt is easy to be negative remember- everyone's still pretty heart-broken by losing the Final..
I am more heart broken that our club seems to have been sold down the river by two clowns for an extra few million in a matter of a few weeks after searching for near on 5 years. I feel herat broken that it looks like after all that we are still going to be scrapping for cash.

The Missus was standing beside me when I opened this.
Unbelievably she was searching the drawer and looking downwards and saw nothing.
I can imagine it now: "No I swear. It's a Liverpool site....."You can agree with me, or you can be wrong.

I don't think we should worry for at least another fortnight. It is fair to assume that all of our main targets are playing in the Spanish league. When their season finishes next week everything will come to a head. Either we will have a few quick signings and we'll all be happy, there will be no signings and we will be worried, or Rafa will go to Real and we'll all be suicidal.Originally posted by Tom View PostYes it is a bit tiring but the local newspaper has been flying kites about this for the past 10 days, now we have more detail, I've held off deciding about this issue until tonight but I'm hearing too much from people who (unlike dunk) do know what they're talking about. On balance I'm worried.
For now though, there's no point worrying. I don't think there is any such thing as a good track record when it comes to insider info. You know full well that different sources are party to different information, and even stuff that is given in good faith can change given a day or two. Every "insider" on the net has been completely wrong on at least one occasion, so while I take the Count's info as being another bad smoke signal from the camp, I won't take it as gospel until I see what happens over the summer.
Finally, even if the Yanks were putting no extra money in, if we were to assume that £15m from TV is added to the champions league money and our regular transfer kitty then Rafa would still have over £20m more than in previous seasons to spend. I still wouldn't necessarily see that as a disaster. We have a great spine to the side - we just need some creative class and a goalscorer, and that should be possible to add with the £35-40m that we would have to spend. Whether Rafa would be happy with that would be another matter though, and depends on what he was promised.Last edited by calvoboy; 11-06-07, 10:46 PM.

from the count at TLW:
And more recently the Malouda link a day before it hit the papers. The Count isn't one to blow his own trumpet, as anyone who reads the GF knows: he is a guitar man. By the way the Count purchased his strat. It rocks. It's black. Beautiful.
Anyway, the Count doesn't post for the attention of it, he posts because he believes fans would like to hear information the Count is privy to. Because the Count is a fan like any one else on here. As for an agenda against Gillett... no, no, no, no. The Count thought he was great. He might still be a good guy, who knows.
Regardless, they aren't the individuals the Count would blame if this whole thing turns sour.
Moores made a pretty penny from this club - he would have made a lot more if it had been run properly - and his regime put us in a position where the Yanks were our only option.
No one wants this club to do well more than this long lad.
The Yanks PR stuff has been nothing but spot on, but the Count has heard a number of things which worry him greatly. And as anyone who knows his undead bad self will be aware of, he is a positive dude.
The Count isn't the only one. Can anyone remember Bascombe being as despondent as he was in Saturday's Echo?
The Count being the little ray of six foot six and a bit of sunshine he is, is still clinging to the fact that so many players have signed up. Rafa must have reassured them.
But for now, the Count will return to the shadows. Hank awaits.
