If Parry was that certain that these current owners would back Rafa with funds then there is something wrong. Yes they bought the club with the condition that they must finance/build a new stadium which they have promised to but coming to the transfer kitty if we have mo money to spend and the budget is going to be somewhat the same as before then it hasnt made a difference of these two yanks buying the club.

We all thought or were under the impression that with the new takeover atleast we would have more money available to buy the first priority signings rather than second and third rates. If this is the case then i am certain Rafa will move on there is no way he is going to accept this BS of not being backed by the new owners.

We would rather have had DIC instead who could have got who we want.It makes me mad to read these tabloids that Rafa could turn his attention of bidding for Forlan the scum reject who is priced at 16 million, hell i would rather get MO.

Speak for yourself. I, personally, do NOT want a club which throws stupid money at the transfer market. I don't want to try and outspend Chavski. I want our success to be earned not bought. So if you must make statements about DIC, do it from your own perspective and don't use words like "we" when doing it.

Take that 15M and add the sale of Cisse for around 5M, then Bellamy for 8M, both perhaps on the lower side of what they could go for. Thats up to 28M, which is already more than any LFC manager has EVER spent in any transfer window in the history of the club. Perhaps chuck in Pongolle's fee and we are at or over 30M. Gonzalez looks likely to go too and we could easily see one or more of Crouch, Carson, Momo, Garcia or Kewell on their way if circumstances or a bid make it viable, not to mention Paletta or one or two other reserves. Whoever went we could easily reach a total of 35M without having lost a single player that we didn't really need anymore with the vast majority being those we are glad to see the back of.

Take off the purchase of Lucas and we're looking at 3 x 10M players (striker, left mid, right mid) or 2 x 15M perhaps (striker + wide man who can play both wings). I say again - that's still more than any other LFC manager will have ever spent in the Summer. Even in Ged's horror summer of Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou he spent slightly under 20M. The Summer Cisse, Xabi and Garcia arrived was a big one but that can be split up between Houllier and Rafa.

Rafa may have wanted more. Us fans might have wanted more in between dreaming of Henry, Eto'o, Tevez and Villa. But if GG & TH give Rafa more than any other LFC manager has had in the past it's questionable if he can be justified in going back to them and say "more sir, please can I have some more". Especially when his transfer record so far points to only 50% of what he spent being players who would make it into the first team.

But the climate is different now- not only are we competing with 2 teams who are regularly spending £20m on player in our own league, there are those that do so abroad too.

Also there is now a huge amount of telly money coming in & there will be teams currently beneath us such as the mooted WHam & Barcides who will spend a lot of money too.

We do not need to spend Abraovich big, but we do need 2-3 £15m-£25m players to compete at the top level.
      3rd place. Worst champions ever.

Interesting that for the past couple of years we've all accused Chelsea of buying trophies, having no history, ruining footy, the black death, global warming and all othrer bad things, but when our new owners aren't as affluent we all kick off. I dont want us to be another chelsea, and i dont think we neeed as many 'big players' as some here crave to be honest.

If DIC had taken over and hadnt signed any one at this stage in the transfer window the same stories could just have easily been coming out about them as well!

Some people are never happy unless we've signed everyone.

I think we need two top (£20m+) players.

I don't want to do a Chelsea either, but realistically we need at least £20+ striker & a £15m+ winger to compete. That is hardly the same level of spending as the Chavs have had.

It is far too easy to polarise views of spending.

Why do they have to cost 20 million and 15 million? Why can't they be cheaper but more effective?

What is this obsession with transfer fees? It's no guarentee of success.
