I'd say he knows more than anyone here and would have contacts BUT it might not be anything concret or just office gosip. SInce Rafa has come here there's nothing being leaked unless its quotes from Rafa.Originally posted by fredo View PostI still believe that Bascombe probably knows much more than anyone about all things LFC. Now, does he play Rafa's game, we'll just have to wait and see.
I would of thought the likes of Alonso would have more info than Bascombe and he's signed for 5 years.
The fact there's been no "big signings" can cause the gosp to be negative. Its times like these we learn to live again FF

This threads huuuuuuge. I'm not sure if its been mentioned before, probably has so just throw a rock at my head, but if they give us 20-30mill this season then really its not the end of the world. Oh sure 50mill would of been awesome, but we werent selling as much as before. If we get rid of players like cisse, bellamy, and a couple others, we can probably easily get that figure up to 40mill. We only really need a couple players at the moment to make the team alot more balanced and keep that top 3 spot till the stadium stuff is sorted. Anyone thinking we would win the league next season because we spent 50-60mill is a bit eager.
As for Benitez walking, I doubt it. He'd have left by now. The fact that he's bringing in quite alot of young players that he really really wants sort of points that he's willing to wait a couple seasons and hope they turn out good. I mean sure, theres a good chance they could turn crap. But theres always a chance they could be the foundations of a very very strong team in the future, and we'll be able to do what UTD does, that is spend 20mill+ on 1 player each season to patch parts up and save the rest of the money. If it turns out like any new manager to a team hopes, it could be super awesome. I was never confident of Houllier with young players. Benitez seems to have a little more upstairs if you get my drift.

Good post, does a good job of putting it into perspective. Winning the league next season was always going to be ambitious, but if we only get £25-£30m to spend then chances are we won't be genuine contenders either. The problem with waiting to sell players before spending is you run the risk that the players wont be sold, or will be sold at a lower price than expected. All the while other clubs jump in and either nick your first choices or drive the price up of your targets. This is why we need to pounce and be less ponderous.Originally posted by vlahka View PostThis threads huuuuuuge. People are suggesting that we are holding tight until the Spanish season ends before making signings. Possibly true. But it has occured to me that may be Rafa is also waiting until the Spanish season ends before possibly quitting, waiting to see what jobs might become available (Real Madrid, Barca?)White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Mate I don't believe for one second that the idea has even crossed Rafa's mind to wait until the Spanish season ends, see what jobs become available and act accordingly. But if he becomes more and more frustrated with what's playing out at Anfield with the new owners, who knows?White liquid in a bottle = Milk

1st point - transfers arn't like going to your supermarket on 1st come 1st served basis. If we needed to raise funds and a player wanted to come to us they'd wait.Originally posted by Dhavlos View PostGood post, does a good job of putting it into perspective. 2nd point Rafa waiting to quit is rubbish, Rafa mulling over quiting is different - you'd want the world to know yuor available ASAP or make it known atleast your off and therefore the whole press would pick up on it.Its times like these we learn to live again FF

1. I can't see a player like Malouda who is being courted by a number of clubs and wants to move abroad, will be willing to wait around all sumer in the hope that LFC will raise a few extra bob to be able to afford him.Originally posted by redlancer View Post1st point - transfers arn't like going to your supermarket on 1st come 1st served basis. 2. There are ways of making it known you are unhappy, available for a new job etc without actually quitting. Hypothetically speaking, if Rafa is frustrated and wants a new job he can put feelers out there to see if there's any takers before he quits Anfield, and if nothing is doing he could decide to stay.White liquid in a bottle = Milk

Personally I think if we don't sign Malouda it's not money that was the problem, more his lack of any real desire to play for LFC and his mercenary tendencies"the correct decision would have been a penalty for us a red card for Gattuso and a yellow for Stevie"

1 - not talking about all summer - its only been a couple of weeks and if we've shown an interest in a player and had talks and he wanted to come to us you'd think he could wait a few weeks.Originally posted by Dhavlos View Post1. 2 - there are ways of making it known but as soon as he puts the feelers out it won't be long before some journo picks it up. But if he did want to quit he'd do it as soon as his mind i made up and probably not worry so much if there was another job to go to. In fact he'd want to be publically avaiable ASAP.
I recon the lack of information and activity makes people look for negatives.
I would of been amazed if any new owners would sanction huge buys in the 1st year, but doesn't mean it not there. Its times like these we learn to live again FF
