If Mittal buys the Brum......how does that affect us?

Just to make us feel even worse .....

World's fifth richest man eyes Birmingham

Indian-born billionaire Lakshmi Mittal - the fifth richest man in the world - has emerged as a contender to buy Premiership club Birmingham.

The steel magnate, who is worth £19.25 billion, has made an inquiry about the possibility of taking over the midlands club from David Sullivan and David and Ralph Gold.

Mittal, who is based in the UK, has not so far followed up his initial interest in Blues who have become a more attractive commodity following their return to the Premiership.

City are already the subject of interest from a mystery Far East businessman who is planning to make a formal bid later in the week if auditors are satisfied after going through the club's books.

But 56-year-old Mittal, who last year bought Arcelor, the world's second biggest steel-maker for £17.8 billion, is maintaining a watching brief.

Mittal has twice the personal fortune of Chelsea owner Roman Abramowich and Blues could be transformed into a major power if he took control.

Sullivan and the Golds, who would relinquish control for around £50 million, would be happier with a quick sale of City rather than a long drawn-out affair if their time at the club is to end after 14 years.

In the meantime Birmingham manager Steve Bruce is pressing ahead with his plans to try to strengthen his squad for next season.

But he suffered a setback with West Brom rejecting a joint £5 million bid for Diomansy Kamara and Jason Koumas.

Feck me, with that kind of fortune, Mittal could easily afford to piss away 3-400 million to make Brum another Chelsea.....The gap is widening, I hope to god the rumours about us being skint are all a load of ****.

    DIC, come back....all is forgiven......

I'm not bothered about Brum, if the premier league/FA go down this road welcoming in all these billionaires it will lead to a massive disinterest in the game and their product will plummet in worth.

If that happens, there's nothing we can do about it, it'll be a pissing contest between billionaires (YAWN)

As for DIC, they were too tight to do the deal and blew it. If they can't negociate a deal better than H&G then I'm glad they aren't owning our club.
No disrespect to them but they can **** off now

Chelsea were just a *bit* better than Birmingham when Abramovich took them over. Also, they have added bonus of being a London-based club.

Birmingham would have to pretty much replace their entire team with much better players to be a genuine threat to us and it's going to take a couple of years to establish themselves in the Prem before they can even attract the players they'd need.

Mate DIC had big money but they wernt gonna throw it around, Our club is part of a big 4 year plan mate, you hink Hicks an Gilette are gonna throw 40 million at us every year because, feck it they feel like, no there not.
We need the club to earn the money and Rafas uns in the CL will help to do that. I think this year we will still go for the CL get a windfall get the stadium sorted then next summer maybe we will have alot of money, but transfers arnt the most important thing.

good, i hope they do have **** loads of cash to spend, healthy competition is a good thing.
plus just because they have money, it doesnt mean they will attract a bucket load of world class stars either.

RedChilli, do you think that Moores and Parry might have tried to bluff DIC into upping their bid - DIC told them to piss off.....leaving Moores and Parry with no alternative but to accept G & H's offer? (Desperation cause stadium costs were increasing, fans were getting restless, signings were less than flattering etc etc).

If indeed we come out with no 'big money' signings this summer, a lot of angry fingers are going to be pointing back to what was going on in those infamous closed door 'investment' meetings.
