I worry that the way we play will never get the best out of attacking players. Our system encourages conservatism and methodical, slow build up.
I dont really like it* and i hope it doesnt prevent Torres from flourishing.
*Although, if it makes us challenge for (and win) top honours, i do like it

we have the best central midfielders in the world and wingers fit to grace the championship
You are wrong there.
Kewell and Pennant are better than championship.Don't sell yourself short.Rafa will add to these areas aswell, have no doubt.-----------------------------------------------

we have the best central midfielders in the world and wingers fit to grace the championshipI agree. Pennant has done more than enough to invalidate that claim on the right side. I am concerned, though, about how we will accommodate our fantastic central 4 this year. Gerrard wide again? I was surprised at Sissoko's new contract. I have high expectations of him, but wonder how often he will get to play unless injuries dictate.Originally posted by PostmanPat View Post

I think when we have better, more technical players on the wing and in the middle next year that you will see a much better balance than we have today.Originally posted by DJS View PostI worry that the way we play will never get the best out of attacking players. Rafa has started at the back and hopefully this year he'll complete the squad by working on the front line.
Remember when we played valencia and they gave us a football lesson. Thats the team Rafa is building and no-one would call them a defensive team.
Cheer up, I think the situation is far more promising than you think. The Crushing Machine MKII

In general, I agree Torres is far more technical than anyone else we've had playing up front. We should keep the ball more, our link-up play will be more intelligent and don't forget he can finish as well with his left foot as his right. I really do think he will make a massive impact and not just for his goals.Originally posted by Nic83 View PostHe will do for us what Henry did for Arsenal. Except more, if all goes according to plan. He has nearly every attribute under the sun and he is a really good finisher, contrary to some people's opinions.
He will spend a bit of time coming deep and working the flanks ala Henry and will link our midfield (best midfield there is) with our frontline brilliantly.
He is also good in the air which is something he ha over henry.
He will be the signing that wins us the league very soon

A nice optimistic post
Much more pleasant than a lot of the doom mongery that has been around recently.
That said even if Torres plays as well as Henry he'll need help to have the same impact.
Still thanks for a ray of sunshine on a cr@ppy day.

i'd argue that barnesy in his first season was better but consistently you may be rightOriginally posted by Sir Bob View PostProbably the most overly optimistic post I've ever read on here mate.
I think torres will do a very good job for us, but better than Henry, come off it. Henry is the singularly best player i've ever seen in England and I go back to the mid 1970's.
As for winning the league very soon, if you mean this season, I very much doubt it.
Admire you optimism though mate.

Because that is the system Rafa is hoping to imitate when he has the right players.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

Let's all be happy, i'm very hopefull for Torres, but not going to expect anything great from him, thay way can't be disapointed if it don't work out, also worth mentioning he's not signed yet...Originally posted by Nic83 View PostHe will do for us what Henry did for Arsenal. i'd be very happy if he scored 20 goals a season, not the 30 people like Henry have in the pastOriginally posted by Morphorino View PostLet's all be happy, i'm very hopefull for Torres, but not going to expect anything great from him, thay way can't be disapointed if it don't work out, also worth mentioning he's not signed yet...

Once was it, or has he done it more? (genuine question)I'd be happy for any Liverpool striker to get 20 league goals. It's pathetic that the only 2 that have done it for a team like LFC over the last 10 or so years are Fowler and Owen (I think)Originally posted by Rocket View Posti'd be very happy if he scored 20 goals a season, not the 30 people like Henry have in the past
