Owen has NEVER scored 20 in the league.

He managed 19 in a couple of seasons. IF he'd played every league game, that would've been 19 in 38 games. He wouldnt have done though. So his record those seasons was BETTER than 1 in 2.

And the whole '20 league goals a season' striker is a bit of a myth, it VERY rarely happens in this day and age, and if/when it does, it's usually only achieved by ONE, or maybe TWO players at the most, per season.

People get bogged down by this figure.

15 league goals is very good. Any more is excellent. 25+ in all comps is a good barometer, providing the majority are league goals.

What would everyone have thought last August that in 12 months time we would have both Mascherano and Torres in our squad? It is suddenly dawning on me what is actually happening!!! Rafa is putting together an amazing team, and most of the players are in the right age bracket to achieve sustained success (Reina, Carra, Momo, Gerrard, Alonso, Dagger, Kuyt... all signed up for the long haul), Mascherano, Torres to compliment those, AND more to come.

yes, instead of Biscan and Smicer we have masher and momo, its definitely an improvement. Still a ways to go, but certainly getting there. problem is, so are our rivals.
