The way I read this, is that we would be playing a 4-2-3-1 formation, as in having 4 attacking players on the pitch.
This would be pretty exciting with Torres up front, Kuyt, Gerrard and Babel behind and Masher and Xabi holding behind.
This would also explain why he wanted so many central midfields and no out and out wingers.Comment

Incredibly I think our weakest strength in depth is actually CB.
I would be very happy if we signed another attacking wide player, but even without one, this squad is stronger than last season.
Kewell is available; Benyaoun&Babel are a huge step up from Zenden; Carson is far stronger cover than Dudek; Aurelio should (hopefully) be fit; Pennant in the second half of the season was twice the player we saw when he first started; Torres is much better than Bellamy; and Voronin, while no way a better finisher than Robbie, can probably contribute more to the squad due to his better stamina and physical condition.

The 4-3-2-1 possible more likely for away games with benayoun playing behind the front man. don't see much point in putting kuyt as an attacking midfielder - been there, done that, didn't work.Comment
