    King Kenny bigs up Yossi

...and who are we to argue with such a Legend.

It makes you stop and think that we are just supporters and the likes of Rafa and his support team do actually know what they are doing.

For example I'd wager that Crouch has more than justified his £7mil fee in terms of the goals he's scored. I expect Yossi in the short-term and Babel in the long-term to prove their worth for the Reds.

Kenny Dalglish, Liverpool's greatest ever player, has tipped Yossi Benayoun to be the man to inspire a serious title challenge from the Reds this season.

Fernando Torres and Ryan Babel may have cost more money and created greater headlines on arrival than the former West Ham midfielder but Anfield's most famous No.7 believes that the Israeli international could prove one of Rafael Benitez's most inspired buys.

"My old club Liverpool have had a busy summer and boss Rafa Benitez has pulled off some big transfers," claimed Dalglish today. "Fernando Torres has come for a big fee and Ryan Babel looks full of promise but I believe their most impressive signing could turn out to be Yossi Benayoun, who gives them a dimension they have not had in midfield.

"If he can work his magic in midfield then the Liverpool punters will take him to their hearts. There was a question or two about how big an investment the new American owners at Anfield were willing to make but they have now put their money where their mouths are."

    King Kenny's Premiership Top Prediction

    1. MANCHESTER UNITED
    2. LIVERPOOL
    3. CHELSEA
    4. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
    5. ARSENAL
    6. EVERTON
    7. WEST HAM

I like your optimism. That's not to say I share it but still...
            .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Has anyone tipped us to win it this year? If they have I havent seen it. Like I've said before I like it this way, we are not expected to even challenge this season, people seem to have low expectations, we're not under huge pressure like the manc and the russians.

As for Benayoun I cant argue with King Kenny. I think we needed someone really creative and now we have it. He's proved he can do it in the Premiership and with better players around him I think he could be a revelation. He was very highly thought of in Spain before West Ham got him, it was something of a coup for them when they managed to pull off his signing.

So do people think that Benayoun is better than Garcia or is it that he offers something different?

I know we let Garcia go for personal and not necessarily footballing reasons but surely for our team to have improved we have to believe that the players who have come in offer us more than those who have left (which looks obvious to me in the forwards but less so in midfield).

Benayoun is a superior player to Garcia. He's a playmaker with the ability to carry the ball and use his vision to create chances for other players. Garcia was dependent on other players giving him the ball in scoring positions, he thrived when he was moving without the ball.

Give Garcia the ball 40 yards from goal on the right flank and he wouldn't know what to do with it. He's not a very good dribbler, something Yossi is, and his passing ability is mediocre. Garcia won't unlock a packed defense with a clever pass, Benayoun can.

The thing is when Garcia plays for Spain he seems a very adept player of the through ball, and I think he did okay at it for us actually. I think he is less suited to doing that wide compared to the more central role he has for Spain. I agree about his lack of dribbling skills.

Benayoun is a player I have only seen a moderate amount of and he has shown a lot of ability but has been inconsistent (although when not viewed regularly I get the impression nearly all flair players seem like that) and I have yet to see him prosper against the sorts of packed defenses we come across - admittedly this is probably a function of the fact that no one does it against West Ham.
