    Regardless of all that, Crouch is much better than Adebayor.

      [QUOTE=ShaggyAlonso;605446]I'm not joking.

      In case it had escaped your attention, Crouch works best in a "crisp attacking team", rather than having long punts aimed in his direction. Adebayor is about 6' 5", a similar 'sort' to Crouch.[/QUOTE

        I bet you were pissing your pants when Crouch scored that hat-trick against Arsenal.

              It was the perfect hat trick for sure but him and "crisp attacking football" hardly go hand in hand.If Crouch played to a level near that(i'm not saying weekly hat tricks) weekly then he would be a very good player. He does'nt though.Baptista scored 4 at Anfield this year.Does'nt mean he is the worlds best.

We would have been ****ted if we were facing Villa instead of Feyenoord last night, just my opinion.

                We should stop picking on individuals as we have the players to really challenge. The sticking point is how Rafa see them playing as a unit. Playing Torres on the right wing, with Kuyt behind Voronin and running like a headless chicken isn't a solution. Football should not be Rocket science FFS.
                So let's not pick on individuals, let's pick on Rafa.

                Who knows why he put Torres on the wing? Maybe he was experimenting. It was a pre-season friendly after all.

                Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

                    Crouch IS a very good player.

                    Baptista didn't score 18 goals for his club last season and he didn't score about half a dozen for his country. He also wasn't the 2nd top scorer in the Champions League.

                          Up front hard work is needed but nowadays pace, trickery, skill, guile are also needed which (so far) Kuyt has not shown too much off.

                          Hang on, "we all dream of a team of Carraghers" remember?

                          Seriously, I don't think its a simple as that. Obviously the different positions require different attributes, and they blatantly have different attributes, but the character of a top-level footballer is, for me, as important as their skill, and it is because of his character that I believe his already not inconsiderable footballing ability will continue to improve, and improve the side

                          The comparisson made earlier in this thread between Kuyt and Mark Hughes could be a very astute one. I think Kuyt and Torres could form one hell of a partnership given faith, and decent supply.

                          Therefore I lied to please the mob.
                          Now all my lies are proved untrue
                          And I must face the men I slew.

                            Or he could be like Alonso and go desperately downhill after his first season to an extent that he doesn't even warrant a place on the bench.
