he's the dutch heskey - a workhorse that unfortunately as a striker won't make the grade. Yes he's an improvement on what we'd had before (baros) but he isn't good enough imo. My biggest critisism is that he doesn't excel in any one area besides effort. He doesn't have a great touch, pace, finishing, knack of being in the right place etc.

Having said all that I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

Kuyt will be our best forward this season IMO. He will score more goals than last year and knit our new look attacking unit together.

Either way, I am sure we now have at least 3 strikers who will be getting around the 15 goal mark, which is better than having two 20 goal a season strikers, and that seems to be what Rafa wants.

Believe you me, a hat-trick against Arsenal is more than good enough for me as well to convince me that he's good enough for us. But if you look at chances missed against the likes of Blackburn and Bolton last season, he misses too many clear chances to be 20+ goals a season striker.

And I think Kuyt's lack of pace has been exagerrated.
And the chance against the mancs at Anfield.Kuyt is not that slow.He can move alright.Crouch is slow
Oh the man is a midfield maestro

Thats my opinion too. Yeah he had a bit of a confidence problem after chrimbo last season for a bit where he seemed a bit nervous to go forward but he was getting back on track towards the end of the season.

Im expecting big things from him this year, I think torres will be a excellent partner for him.

According to the experts on here he is slower than pellegrino, 1st touch of lee carsley with the finishing prowess of stuart barlow.

I`m still searching youtube for some clips to back these claims up

                      It's a tricky one that.

                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

The whole Kuyt bashing thread surprised me actually as I thought he had a decent game yesterday. Besides that he had a decent first season I thought, probably better than Dogbreath did. He scored a few classy goals too (I loved the one against Chelsea) that highlighted what could be to come this year. I agree that he could link up very well with Torres this season too.

I read quiet alot that Kuyt does not have a great touch.
I may be the only one,but I think he does have.
He had a decent first year for me.At least it did'nt take him about 15 games to score his first.

To be fair the difference between Kuyt and Drogba was that the latter was obviously a key component in Chelseas success, playing a limited personal role which benefitted the team. Kuyt particularly later in the season when he dropped deeper didn't fit in with a team with no pacy striker and no wingers who joined in up front.

This season the signings we have made seem ideally suited to get the best out of Kuyt.

His goal scoring record last season compares with Rooney and Berbatov and I think we will be more attacking and thus he will have the opportunity to score more.
