To be fair the difference between Kuyt and Drogba was that the latter was obviously a key component in Chelseas success, playing a limityed personal role which benefitted the team. Kuyt particularly later in the season when he dropped deeper didn't fit in with a team with no pacy striker and no wingers who joined in up front.

This season the signings we have made seem ideally suited to get the best out of Kuyt.

His goal scoring record last season compares with Rooney and Berbatov and I think we will be more attacking and thus he will have the opportunity to score more.

Definatly think that Kuyt is going to come good this year. He works very hard for the team, which means he didnt get as many goals last year. I just hope he becomes more ruthless this year insted of looking to put someone else through.

He will be a legend though.

To me Kuyt doesn't look slower than Crouch (although I may be wrong), but I'd definitely agree that Crouch has a much better touch. Neither seem clinical enough for my liking to be a 20+ goals a season players (given their track records at Liverpool), although Kuyt does have a great record in Holland (weaker league granted). Either way, I am sure we now have at least 3 strikers who will be getting around the 15 goal mark, which is better than having two 20 goal a season strikers, and that seems to be what Rafa wants.



Believe you me, a hat-trick against Arsenal is more than good enough for me as well to convince me that he's good enough for us. But if you look at chances missed against the likes of Blackburn and Bolton last season, he misses too many clear chances to be 20+ goals a season striker.

And I think Kuyt's lack of pace has been exagerrated.

To be fair though, these days 20 goals a season from anybody is rare in the league. After all there's only 38 games. 16+ is a good return these days I'd say.

I think Kuyt has many good qualities by the way, I just think he's too slow, and his touch isn't consistently what it could be.

Sammy mate I'd have to disagree with ya mate, he has just finished his first season where his return was not bad considering.
His work rate is incredible and can be built upon and he did contribute with quite a few assists last year as well. I think with better supply/players around him this year we'll see a higher return.
He may never be 20+ in the league but I don't believe any of our strikers will do that.

Honestly mate, I really hope you're right about Kuyt. I would love to be proven wrong about him and would quite happily hold my hands up if he turns out to be one of Rafa's better signings.

On a little side note, I saw some stats today that he only made 4 assists in all competitions last year which to be honest isn't that great.
