    JAR Appreciation thread.

To all you ****ers that are slating Johnny Rocket-boots at every ****in opportunity, have a look at this link to remind yourselves of his qualities. Yes, he can be vulnerable to the odd ball over his head but surely our centre backs, goalie and defensive midfiielders can cover for the fact that he`s a attacking fullback rather than a defensive one?

Riise is quality - I cannot think of many better players anywhere in his position. hopefully added pressure on his starting place will make him even better.

You do not play for a club like Liverpool for 6 years if you are ****e - you get found out long before that.

I dont slate him it's just that I think technically he isn't good enough. You said that he's an attacking fullback, which I agree. But the only thing for me that keeps Riise in the team is his goals. Apart from that he has very little to his game. He has a poor touch, poor close control, not very agile and is very one footed (apart from that night in the Nou camp). I like him but would prefer someone more technically gifted, like Aurelio. Just a shame he is made out of glass.

However as long as he plays for us, I will support him, but in reality, behind the odd screamer, he isn't really that much.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

                  Terrific thread mate.
I'm sick to the stomach of all the Riise bashers, he's been a bargain signing for us, i wish people would realise this.
Name me one other left back in Europe that has a left foot like his and offers the goal threat he does???
As for his defensive play, i don't see the problem, ok he gets caught out the odd time but no more than that, he played most of his games at left back on our way to the champions league final last season and we were had one of the meanest defences about then.
Lay off JAR and show his the respct he deserves, he's not the problem, the boys upfront are the ones we should be keeping a close eye on this season, not our ginge.

Don't let Lec see this thread. I would prefer someone who can defend to play left back - Riise's positional since woeful.

Alright then. JAR is the best left back in the world at the moment, or should we make that ever?

Last year was'nt his best but he will find his way again.Like Finnan,he always stays in the team regularly despite new arrivals.
