    lfc most popular on web

LONDON - Liverpool FC is the most popular Premier League football club in terms of website traffic to the Anfield outfit's official homepage, according to a poll conducted by web analyst company Hitwise.

The Hitwise figures, which calculated the most website visits received to club's official homepages between the top 20 football teams in the country for the week ending August 4, found Liverpool FC, to be the most supported club online with a 17.3% share of total visits.

The rankings closely resemble the final standings of last season's Premier League table, with title holders Manchester United coming second in the poll with 15.4% of total visits, and Arsenal FC, who was fourth last season, garnered 10.9% to finish third.
Hitwise said Liverpool FC had held the title of most popular football club in terms of online traffic for the last two years, barring one week in April this year when Manchester United closed in on the Premiership title.
The one major results anomaly was Chelsea FC, which finished second in the league behind Manchester United, but managed to attract only 4.4% of total visits to make it the 11th best supported club online in the league based on the Hitwise figures. Other clubs that featured prominently included Tottenham Hotspur, which pulled in 7.5% to finish fourth; Newcastle United, on 5.9% came fifth and West Ham United tied on 5.7% with Manchester City to finish sixth.
Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth FC attracted less than 1% of the total traffic to Premier League club's official homepages, finishing 19th and 20th with 0.54% and 0.74% respectively.
However, the Hitwise figures did not speculate on fan visits to unofficial homepages.
The study also challenged misconceptions about major clubs, including the myth that most Manchester United fans in the UK live outside Manchester, with 73% of fans polled claiming to be from north west England. They were closely followed by archrivals Liverpool, who had 72% of fans based in the north west.
Football fans are most "loyal" to their club in the north east of England, with recently promoted Sunderland FC, Middlesbrough FC and Newcastle United ranking first, second and fourth in terms of localised support.
Additionally, Fulham FC had the most amount of fans living in London, with West Ham United having the least and everton well whose bothered.

"Sky and Setanta have the right to choose their games and it will be the same for everyone. So Mr Ferguson will not be complaining about fixtures and a campaign against United.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

Hopefully yes they will do so. I don't like the fact that I see every other clubs' official magazine on the shelves and there isn't an LFC one.

G/H and the new marketing manager have some work to do!!!

living in ireland here and dont think i have ever seen an official weekly club magazine, would be nice to see how the fringe players and youth teams are doing on a regular basis.

i would certainly buy it if the knock on effect was more revenue generated for the club... maybe with the extra income we could go out and buy a defensive midfielder or a few players for the future

They can challenge it all they like but when Deloitte and Touche find there are about 7m people in the UK who are at least tactic MU fans and about 1m living in Manchester, just how does one 'challenge' it?

That's a bit like charging into a million-strong horde of enemies with a butter knife and a spoon.
