i think the biggest thing to take away from this game is how we over came the frustrating situation that we where in, they where very negative in their approach and the ref allowed them to kick us and hurt us all over the field, the fact that we battled them out and came on top show character, many strikers would have given up in torres' situation, but he kept going and got what was his...

we showed character which we havent now for the last 3 games so thats a start at least...

Choose the sword, and you will join me. Choose the ball and you join your mother, in death. You don’t understand my words, but you must choose. So… come boy, choose life or death."

I mentioned this while I was watching the match, we had some great passers of the ball on the pitch, Aurelio, Leiva, Leto, Benayoun, Crouch, Torres, Finnan pitty Sissoko wasn't quite up to their standard, but if you took him out and put Alonso and Agger in then that'd be some passing machine

Perhaps Pennant should watch the YouTube clip of what Benni did last night...

He has the feet but seems to choke at taking a shot.

Plus Reina is pretty handy with his distribution.

Couldn't believe how poor he was, either that or he truly hates Liverpool

The way he allowed Reading to harass and kick the **** out of Torres was a shame for all refs.
Reading also tried to bully us off the pitch at times and still dived about themselves and got free kicks, where as we got very little. :whatever:
Some fans moan when first team players are rested for carling cup games but I can understand why managers do it when you come up against a side who are intent on putting their foot in in an attempt to bridge the gap in quality. Last season we lost Momo and Luis with bad injuries during our CC campaign and we could so easily have lost somebody last night.

That ref was an absolute disgrace. One scissor kick tackle (on Yossi) in particular was shocking and went totally unpunished. Also - the lack of protection for Torres, () who was repeatedly fouled, was nothing short of bias towards the home team. I didn't catch the refs name but the club should report him for the way he (mis)handled the game last night, nevermind the terrible decision to allow their first goal and the refusal to give Torres a penalty (why didn't he book him for diving then?).

All in all a totally inept performance by the ref and his linesmen.

I think you'll find there were at least two if not three of then in offside positions for their second goal as well.

The referee last night was a total disgrace and its just pure luck that we diodnt have serious injuries. The commentators were saying how well Bikey was playing Torres when in actual fact what he was doing was kicking around the pitch.

"With Ron Yeats in defence, we could play Arthur Askey in goal."

Really? The way I heard it the commentators were mainly saying how both Bikey and Duberry were kicking twenty types of sh*te out of Torres and Crouch.

I agree the ref was incredibly poor.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.
