          PENNANT RETURNS V SPURS

          Lee Brown 07 October 2007

Jermaine Pennant will return to the Liverpool side for today's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield after missing Wednesday's Champions League defeat to Marseille through suspension.

Rafa Benitez has also recalled John Arne Riise, Alvaro Arbeloa, Javier Mascherano and Andriy Voronin as the Reds look to keep up the pressure on Arsenal at the top of the table.

Liverpool - Reina, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Arbeloa, Pennant, Riise, Gerrard, Mascherano, Torres, Voronin. Subs - Itandje, Benayoun, Kuyt, Babel, Lucas.

yeah - whether any quotes attributed to either of them are true/accurate, this is more than rotation. this is just not being played cos you're not good enough.

Disappointed Babel isn't starting, but glad to see Torres there.

Will be interesting to see how Voronin does after he was virtually non existent against Birmingham.

No Momo on the bench as well, looks like Rafa is dropping those who played **** against Marseillem as he should.

Agree, looks like his days are numbered sadly.

He'll go in Jan, he'll have 18 months left on his contract so we'd get more then than what we would in the summer. I really can't see a CL team coming in for him - so he won't be CL tied for the rest of 07/08.

The pundits on Sky this morning seemed to be suggesting that it was just a case of how many we would win by and whether it would be enough to cost Jol his job...

Hate it when they say stuff like that.
