Thanjk you.

DJ - you have been a massive supporter of getting Owen back to us for a few years now, and not once do I think you've ever admitted that signing a player with Owen's injury record would be a risk.
There is no doubt that he is a great goalscorer, but if he only plays 15-20% of a season, is it really the no brainer that you beleive it is??

Of course there's an element of risk, as there is with any signing. Any player can get injured and any signing can flop.
I'd rather have the element of risk with a proven prolific goalscorer though.
I obviously dont think he'd only play 15-20% of the season. And Rafa's rotation policy would probably see him only play half the time anyway.
I have indeed been in favour of signing Owen back, purely on footballing reasons. It's a combination of the fact that he's a superb goalscorer and that the prices quoted, to me, represent a worthwhile risk.
What else can you get for £6m these days? Ade Akinbye? I'd take Owen every day of the week.

But the fact that Owen has only made 22 appearances in almost 3 years at Newcastle highlights the fact that he is far more of a risk that 99.9% of the other players we could go for - surely you can see that.
For the record, at £6m i'd be tempted by Owen but it is still a massive risk given his injury-proness!!
He wont sign for us cause he wont accept the rotation policy/ 3rd choice
Not sure about that mate. I think he'd bust a gut and accept anything to join Liverpool again.
Don't know about being 3rd choice either. I agree he would have to accept he's not the main striker and first name on the teamsheet this time round. Torres is our main striker and everyone, including the current strikers and Michael Owen, know that. Owen would be rotated lie the rest of them.
I don't want to sound like I'm desperate for us to sign him, I'm not. BUT I do think IF he's available for £6m it should be carefully considered.
Lot's of 'pros and cons' in signing him.
No, no, no.........I'm only scary 'cause I'm hairy
Big year for me 2008, hope it all goes well for me, oh, and you lot too!

He's a bigger risk, but in terms of the costs involved, he's also a far bigger asset than 99.9% of other players we could go for.
He isn't world class, he isn't a world class finisher, he is a world class goalscorer.
it's what we need. two decent wingers supplying Torres and owen, happy days.....

I don't think Torres and Owen would work. They both play in similar areas of the field.
6m for Michael Owen is an absolute bargain, you'd be crazy to not even consider it.
As for the Anelka discussion, he'd be just as good a signing, if not better IMO.

Compared to Owen, he could be a better signing.
