That is the thing. I think he is trying to get the players to play a certain way but they are not responding.

There can be many reasons for this but IMO none of us can really tell why so for me Rafa gets the benefit of the doubt.

It's more than 1 game, we can all see that. The point you're making is spot on though and I agree 100%.

I agree we're better than that, but we are not PERFORMING like we're better. What's it down to? Confidence? Motivation? Team selection? Tactics?

Whatever one of them it is, it's the manager's responsibility.

There's one big difference. Rafa has won the CL. And the UEFA Cup and 2 La Liga titles. That in itself puts light years between him and Houllier.

However, Rafa's tactics and approach to the game are worrying similar to Houllier's at the moment. And his inability to bring in quality in key areas is hurting us big-time (as unfortuantely I have been predicting for the last season and a bit - I wish I were wrong on this)

But you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear:

Kuyt
Crouch
Bellamy
Voronin
Benayoun
Babel
Morientes
Fowler (the old injured version)
Gonzalez
Leto

Too many "not good enoughs" and "didn't deliver" in that list - and they're all attacking players - either striekrs or wide men. Therein lies our problem.

Rafa has yet to spot a good striker (other than Torres) and mould him into our 1st 11 and our way of playing. It's worrying, very worrying.
