    Sunday rumours

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill wants to turn Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson's loan move into a permanent switch for £10m. (News of the World)

Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce wants to sign Liverpool striker Peter Crouch in January. (News of the World)

Former Newcastle and Liverpool manager Graeme Souness has thrown his name into the hat to succeed Steve Staunton as Republic of Ireland manager. (Sunday Express)
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

we should have at least £20-30m to spend in Jan

£10 for Carson, £8-10 for Crouchy + whatever the board give Rafa.

should be able to buy a couple of quality players for that.

Nasri and Benzema would be within reach.

who do they play for and what positions? i'm assuming defensive midfielders or non-scoring strikers...

does that portuguese guy miguel play left or right back? we were strongly linked with him when rafa arrived first and he seems class when he plays in the national side. anyone see him more regularly or know any more about him?

Nasri plays for Marseille, he's an attacking mid/winger...excellent with the ball at his feet. Benzema is pure quality. Playing as a striker for Lyon (leading the scoring charts with 11 goals), he would suit us well IMO. he has that touch of class about him.

Liverpool, Chelsea keep tabs on Barcelona's Henry
                  tribalfootball.com - October 28, 2007

Barcelona striker Thierry Henry could be set for a sensational return to the Premiership.

The Sunday Express says Henry has disappointed Barca directors so far this season and his Nou Camp adventure could be short-lived.

The Frenchman has always admitted an admiration for Liverpool, while Chelsea and Tottenham would also love to bring the former Arsenal captain back to London .

Influential Barca figures are now demanding full value from their £16million investment.

I think January can more or less be written of in terms of major transfers. Very few major moves happen as clubs want to keep hold of their best players. I's be surprised if we made a significant signing and even if we did its very hard for new players to make much impact half wat through the season
