    Arbeloa

Rafa was wrong to put him on midfield first off.
Secondly he should have tracked Cesc's run today and Joe Cole breezed past him like that in the first leg of the CL semi last year too.
    Worrying and costly that's all.
Oh the man is a midfield maestro
and his passes are sooo delightful

Arbeloa has been a revalation but shouldn't be in midfield against the likes of Fabregas.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

Not worth a new thread, can't blame arbeloa really getting thrown in like that, was unfortunate because of the timing of alonso's injury that's all

I thought he should have gone to LB, pushed JAR into LW and Yossi wide right and brought Stevie back into the middle.
Yeah he didnt track the run, that goal could and should have been cut out. Did you see Rafa's face afterwards, me thinks Arbeloa will be getting the Spanish version of the hairdryer treatment tonight!

          Exactly.

It is unfair to blame Arbeloa for their goal as he was playing in a position he wasn't familiar with.

You could see he was a bit out of his depth there at times and I thought it was a poor decision by Rafa to put him on there when he could have brought on Benayoun or Babel and switched to 4-4-2 with Stevie and Masch in the middle.

Also makes you wonder why one of or plethora of central midfielders wasn't on the bench.

I was astounded with the move to make Arbeloa play in the middle. He isn't no John O Shea

well it may have meant to be on the left hand side, but with 3 so central there really is no room for a lw!

Very harsh to have a pop at Arbeloa. If any blame is apportioned then it should be aimed at Rafa. Why he didn't stick SG in the middle with Masher, bring Babel on and play him and Yossi on the flanks, with Crouch and Kuyt in the middle, I'll never know.

                  A strange decision.

Babel should have come on and behind the striker, Stevie in the middle with Jefe. Should have sorted the problem

                      Totally agree.

                      Again rafa got it wrong!!!

Had babel played instead of arbeloa we could have been a little more adventurous!!!

However rafa is so defensive minded. That is the result he wanted with that formation!

Arbeloa didn't even had a warm up, he was thrown on the pitch.
