Sorry if this turns into a rant

but I've been getting really pissed of with everyone (the media and pundits) blowing smoke up Wengers arse and slagging Rafa at every opportunity so I thought I would bring some stats and opinions to people's attention.
On Sky last night they mentioned that Aliadiere scored 1 league goal in 8 years at Arsenal, 1 goal in 8 bloody years. Mellor managed a better return than that, they also said that of the Arsenal team who reached the Carling Cup semi final 4 years ago none are still with Arsenal, that's right (if it is indeed right) none, nil, zip but Wenger is a genius and amazing at bringing through young players etc..(if you believe the hype)
We had last night Hobbs, Leto, Lucas and El Zhar playing, all brought to the club at different ages by Rafa. Now I only get to watch the reserves on Ltv but it is obvious that the youngsters Rafa has brought in over the last couple of years are an improvement and in the next 2-3 years we should be getting young players regularly breaking into the squad but again the perception given by the media is Rafa buys rubbish and can't bring young players through.
I'll go as far to say that from what I've seen the only young lads with a chance of breaking through are the ones brought in, Spearing won't play 10 games for the 1st team, he gets MOM and raved about because people look at him through scouse tinted glasses which is understandable because we're all desperate for the next Robbie, Carra or Gerrard.
My message in this post is not to believe the constent **** written against Rafa and Liverpool whether it be about his buys, rotation, zonal marking, the academy or whatever.
This isn't a pro Rafa post it's a pro Liverpool post, supporting the club means supporting whoever is in charge at that time and not getting sucked into the crap written against us.
The King was back for a short while. Long live The King.

      Spot on. Good post mate

We had this last season when we were knocked out of the Cups by Arsenal. How Rafa was sh*t and Arsenal and Wenger were great. We all know what happened at the end of the season. The media never learn.

I have to hold my hands up and say I was influenced by the constant media criticism of Rafa. He's had a proper hard time of late. He knows his stuff and comes across as very confident and knows what he has to do to get the job done. I'm just going to trust him to get the job done.

He gets slated when rotation doesn't work. When it does work nothing gets mentioned. When we won yesterday they again started to call us a one man team. **** it. see what happens at the end of the season

some fair points there fella, people do tend to forget that Wenger has spent millions of snaffling the best young talent from around the globe and has used some very dubious methods to do so, esp in Spain (but to be fair we've started doing the same in spain as well)
It's all well and good for Arsenals team last night to have an average age of 19, but lets see in 3/4yrs time and see how many have broken through.

The two best young players from Hungary.

                Two of Swedens best talents.

The second best young Barca striker.

One of the best young players from Real.

                Eccleston.

                Insua.

I think Rafa has done some excellent signings.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'd have liked to have seen Insua play last night but as soon as Rafa said Aurellio needed games he was never going to fit him in.
I'd like to see Hobbs go on loan in Jan to a Championship team (can't see any Prem team signing and playing him) get 20 odd games under his belt then come back next season ready to play

I think thats wrong!! I've just had a look at their team back then and it contained Almunia, Hoyte, Clichy, Senderos, Djourou, Van Persie, Fabregas and Flamini.

I sometimes wonder what some people on this site expect from our youngsters. If a young bloke doesnt get off to a flying MOM in his first game 'he's lightweight, 'wont make it', 'not LFC standard', and various other negative comments. I remember a pre-season game that Hobbs did poorly in and he got slated no end. He looked good against Cardiff last night. Leto looks like he will be the player to complain about. It seems like we have some truly gifted youngsters on the books and with the bloke from Ajax running the academy they will be very technically proficient. Im not having a go at any posters on this thread but what are reasonable expectations regarding the development of the youngsters?
"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match.

To make it into the first team squad.
(and save some money for the club on expensive transfers)

well I'd have gone for the ability to walk on water with the sun shining out their arse like Walcott, but MOM would be enough for me!
