Rafa Benitez has reiterated his desire to keep Javier Mascherano at Liverpool.
The midfielder's present deal runs out at the end of the season and Benitez is keen to extend that and keep one of his most valuable stars at the club.

"Mascherano wants to stay, he is very happy here," enthused Benitez. "He is a key player for us and I have been talking with him and he is really pleased to be at Liverpool.

"His family are settled here and his wife is learning English and he is very comfortable here.

"Javier also knows that the supporters like him and I think if everything is okay he will stay with us.

"We are happy with him so it would be good for everyone if he stayed at Liverpool."

Maestro is top notch when it comes to info and I can't recall a time when he's been that far away with his snippets of news. He's a better source than most. Definitely one of the best so when he says something like he has in this thread you know that there must be some weight behind it. Whether you like the news or not you have to accept what he says so I must admit that I'm quite concerned that Mascher is unhappy at the way things are going with his future. When will Rick Parry ever learn?

We need to get this lad signed up asap and make this deal permanent. He along with Torres are two of the most highly rated youngsters in world football so it's very important that we keep both of them here for a very long time.

We need to be building a strong team with these players and not let them walk out the door without a fight.

Imagine how angry Rafa would be if he left? Not to mention how pissed off we would be.

We need to get this done and in light of Maestro's news it does seem that Rafa is making his intentions clear. GET MASCHER SIGNED!

I heard last weekend that the chances of us signing Mascherano were slim.. no make that anorexic
