i almost agree with you.

ALL players who serve a long time at one club DESERVE a testimonial so the fans can show their appreciation to them.

your right about the proceeds though, all the money should go to charity (not the bull**** charities like for animals or rehabillitating junkies though)

indeed, the point of testimonoals was back in the day when the game wasnt awash with money, it was a way of setting up a player for life after retiring. But theses days, how many players will spend so long at one club? also the money raised probably wont be much compared to their monthly wages. But I do agree that money from a testimonial should go to the community/charity.
