Just found out, The John Barnes show is available for free on Liverpool FC TV tonight! 9-10pm.

I read something that Barnes is taking part in some new reality TV show where doctors analyse famous people genes and then tell them what diseases or illnesses they are likely to die from.

For such a legend, I think its sad he has lowered himself to this reality TV rubbish. If he appears on cele big brother or get me outta here, his is offically going to number three in my favourite players of all time list....

              i almost agree with you.

ALL players who serve a long time at one club DESERVE a testimonial so the fans can show their appreciation to them.

your right about the proceeds though, all the money should go to charity (not the bull**** charities like for animals or rehabillitating junkies though)
People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

testimonials should be banned these days in my view and restricted to the lower leagues only. they were appropriate once but not any more.

if anything we should be taking money back from the players so the tickets are cheaper, not turning up again like idiots to give them even more.

and that includes charity. if they want to give something to charity then let them give something, they're wealthy enough after all.

                testimonials should be no more.

To be fair, top flight players testimonials are completely different these days.

Years ago it was to provide a well earned and well needed big payday.

Today at the top level, every testimonial i read about, the player donates every penny of the money to a charity. Its purely about respect and appreciation now and I think sami deserves one big time (also a charity will be better off for it, but im not really arsed about that like tbh)

Watched Digger's show on LFC TV this week - thoroughly enjoyable interviews with The Flying Pig, Brucie and Brian Hall. Really like his show.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

His show is excellent, he has come on in leaps and bounds from that mongaloid who used to "present" football on channel 5.

The way king kenny used to sit there smiling though as digger was stuttering and stumbling used to have me in stitches though the king

Barnes is sound on the telly when he's not reading an autocue. I actually feel sorry for him when he's reading one. He still hasn't mastered it.

could you read an autocue if you sniffed as much powder as digger?

testimonials are crap anyhow. i'm not convinced the regular crowd go to them. the best way to show a player they are appreciated is to sing their song for them, and make sure their last game for us is memorable.

robbie never had a testimonial for us, but nobody could say he didn't get respect and appreciation nonetheless.

as i say, if they want to donate to charity, let them. they could even do it out of their own pocket instead of out of ours.

yes i know i'm a miserable *******. i just think footballers get enough from us already.

in terms of the balance i'd be looking for them to show their respect and appreciation of us rather than the other way round.
