OMG I can't believe what I'm reading. Pleat is the most inept and infuriating of them all to me.

Completely agree about Pleat. He is perhaps the best summariser currently working on radio or television that tells you things you can't work out for yourself because (a) you're not at the match or (b) even if you were there he knows more about football than most of us (certainly more than me). All these idiots who tell us things like "he''ll be disappointed with that" or "I don't understand why..." are just empty spaces. Pleat tries to tell you why a team is playing the way it is, what might be the tactics (and I don't mean just the formation which is what some ex-players think tactics are) and suggests simple ways the manager might try to address problems that crop up during the game. For all his verbal slip-ups, he actually adds to understanding.Originally posted by BobTheCharmerI like him too. He's old, he forgets things, he gets names wrong but he's harmless. He was pretty much bang on with what he had to say last night. Had nothing but praise for our two best players, Kuyt & Agger and was correct about Pennant second half.
Martin Tyler & Brian Marwood are the worst two for me.
I think Tyler's OK, he's just a commentator and usually he calls out the right name.
Marwood is incredibly irritating and repetitive - I really wish they'd dump him. I won't buy a season ticket for Prem Plus because while from time to time there are games I wouldn't mind seeing it's not worth putting up with his tedious comments which are at best glaringly obvious and at worst just plain wrong..
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.
May the Lord bless this post.

The footy on S4C is generally quite good with Sgorio (a weekly review of action from the European leagues) and coverage of some of the Wales games.Originally posted by RigadonThe football coverage on ITV is shocking. S4C could do a better job!!
I’m glad Matt Smith has rejoined the BBC. He’s wasted on ITV.

Who's Matt Smith? Not that smug faced shirt lifter who used to do the highlights on ITV of the Championship games? In his thirties?Originally posted by RigadonThe football coverage on ITV is shocking. S4C could do a better job!!

If so I wish a painful death on him. Him and that asian chap who ruined football focus.Always borrow money from a pessimist. He won’t expect it back. Oscar Wilde

I like Pleat too. I'd much rather listen to him than someone who knows the names but is a complete ****. Like Andy Gray for example.Originally posted by Neil YoungCompletely agree about Pleat.
