    NO RETURN FOR INJURED TRIO
    Jimmy Rice 30 November 2007

Xabi Alonso, Daniel Agger and Fabio Aurelio will again miss out this weekend after failing to recover from injury.
Speaking ahead of the visit of Bolton on Sunday, Rafa Benitez said: "Because of the type of injury Xabi and Daniel have – metatarsal – we have to be really careful."

Both players have been out since Pompey on September 15, though Alonso made a brief return against Arsenal at the end of last month.

Brazilian left-back Aurelio is now back in training and is expected to be available in time for the Marseille showdown on December 11.

Some nice stats in the build up to the Bolton game

Peter Crouch has scored in 27 games for Liverpool – the Reds have won 26 and drawn one of those matches.

Liverpool are three goals short of scoring 50 this season.

Fernando Torres is the Reds leading scorer with ten goals. It wasn't until New Years Day last season that a player (Peter Crouch) reached double figures.

The Reds are unbeaten in 13 league games with 27 points. Only twice in any of their 18 title winning seasons had they accrued more points at the same stage (based on three points for a win). 1978-79 (32 pts) and 1987-88 (33 pts).

So your saying that if you recalculate the old results for 3pts for a win, then its still the 3rd best start in our history? that is impressive.

In the history if you only look at years we have won the league.

I have never seen that Peter Crouch stat. That is amazing if that is the case. 79 out of 81 points we have got when Crouch has scored.

It's about time he started scoring in the games we didn't win then.

When the **** did Aurelio get injured AGAIN?

I thought his absence from the 18 in midweek was strange. Should've ****ing known.

So what was the injury and when did he pick it up? Anyone? Don't remember seeing it being reported.

He's a worse sicknote than Kewell. I like Aurelio - a lovely ball player and very useful against the weaker sides - but if this goes on we'd be better off selling, surely? He's just a drain on our finances at the moment.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Riise is back in place of Arbeloa and Sissoko and Mascherano both play with Gerrard on the right and Babel on the left.

I agree about Bolton being a dirty side. I'd rather they kicked lumps out of Riise and Kuyt than Arbeloa and Torres. I think I'd pick Kewell on the left though. Based on his Liverpool experience so far it is only a matter of time until he is injured again so we might as well get it over with.

We should fight fire with fire, and field Momo to hunt and hack down anything in a white shirt.

Also play Voronin the axe murderer - that will make them think twice about chopping him down from behind.

I'm not so sure we should mate.

We've done that before - albeit at their place - and stooped to their level. It never helped!

I also remember Rafa doing that for his first derby - Diao preferred to Xabi - and it backfired then too.

I'd go with Masher & Gerrard in the middle again, with Lucas backing up on the bench.

There'd be no place for Momo in my 16.

I was being a little faceitious because Bryncoch's post was amusing

but regardless of whether Momo plays or not I think we have to be prepared for the rough stuff.

Also, I've never seen the words in your post "Diao preferred to Xabi" put together in a sentence before

I'm stoned and clicked 'reply' as soon as I saw the Momo bit.
