    Hicks "wants to sell up"

    I stole this from RAWK:

'An article on the backpage of the Mirror today claims Tom Hicks is making preparations to sell his stake in the club, after falling out with Gillett over plans for the new stadium, apparently Hicks wanted a grander stadium. The article claims Dubai International Capital are once again interested. Of course this is from the Mirror so could be speculation and conjecture.'

I would be absolutely amazed but it ties in with what another poster on RAWK (I think it was on RAWK) was posting last week. However, no way would DIC get involved again.

It was reported in the press (for whats its worth) some time ago well before all this Rafa business that they had fallen out The latest reports about stadium funding being secured would make this seem odd though?

Well it certainly would tie in with what has been said in the press a few weeks back, so make of it what you will... here is the link to that artical in the mirror..

        http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footba...9520-20183345/

I for one would not be sorry to see him sell his share...And DIC come in...or even Kraft for that matter.. As for Gillett I honestly feel he's heart is in the right place, but just dosen't have the cash to do run the club alone.. But this could tie in with the sudden change about Transfers... All speculation I know, but lets see what developes... The saga continues...

Rafa BENITEZ's war with Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks took a stunning twist last night as it emerged one of the two American millionaires is looking for a way out of the club.

City sources confirmed last night that Hicks, who has been at the forefront of the battle with Benitez, is preparing an exit strategy. Barely nine months after arriving at Anfield in a blaze of glory after the £219million takeover, it is understood Hicks has placed a guide valuation of a staggering £1billion on the Merseyside club.

And while that price is seen as ridiculous by City analysts, it emerged last night that Dubai International Capital, the investment group headed by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and who were jilted at the alter by Liverpool 12 months ago, could be ready to make a new bid.

Hicks' relationship with Benitez reached almost total breakdown last week, when the Spaniard was ordered to "quit talking about new players" in the January transfer window.

Benitez expected to be sacked as the row intensified, although a fragile peace was forged ahead of Wednesday's vital Champions League win over Porto, which kept the Reds in the competition.

Hundreds of fans marched on Anfield before the game to show their backing for Benitez.

Maybe the speculation about Hicks wanting to buy Roma has some truth to it.. wishfull thinking maybe... The one thing I am sure about is that Hicks is the problem guy and the cause of all the trouble of late...

Rafa Benitez last night pleaded for an end to the Anfield civil war as his players of fered him extraordinary backing.

The Liverpool manager still finds himself in a precarious position after a row with the club owners, despite four straight wins in which they have scored 17 goals.

But the Spanish coach now wants to make peace with George Gillett and Tom Hicks, who may even be on the point of selling out.

As Benitez called for talks to be brought forward in an attempt to resolve the crisis, the players showed just how strongly they are behind their manager. Star striker Fernando Torres described Benitez as one of the "Anfield greats".

The Liverpool boss still believes he has done only what is right for the club - despite angering Hicks and Gillett to the point of them preparing to sack him. But he urged an end to the row, when he said: "I would hope to speak to the owners before the Manchester United game because we must decide what is best for the future of the club.

"I don't know if that is possible but we will try. It is clear we need to talk about what the problem was and move on. Maybe my English is not that good, maybe that was the problem."

That puts the ball firmly in the Americans' court as Benitez is even prepared to drop his demands for funds to invest in new players, which was at the heart of the Americans' objections to his role.

But he still believes what he planned is in the best interests of the club.

The Spaniard said: "I was trying to act as a manager to improve my team for January and for next season and they told me it wasn't the time now.

"I didn't understand why but now things have been, more or less, clarified, and once they arrive here, we will clear things up."

Crucially, the manager has the backing of the players. Torres, the darling of the fans, said: "I think Rafa's more than a manager. He's one of the greats in Liverpool's history and people feel that way about him and they show it.

"We all had an idea that he's somewhat special here but today it's been really impressed on everybody. I am so impressed by just how much he's loved by the people, above anything else, even the players."

The American owners were silent on the subject of the manager yesterday, but behind the scenes it seems that there is a softening of the hard-line response to last week's outbursts. They are also considering a way out of the mess without resorting to the axe.

If that is a direct quote from Rafa I would have to assume his meeting with Parry is where this was clarified. In that case Rick may be doing his job a little better than some think.

There is obviously some **** going on but I feel it can be sorted now.
