Ah **** that. I got a text off a Manc last night saying similar.

This same cunt used to spend nearly every day bending my ear about how amazing Ruud van Nistelrooy was, what a goal machine he was and how he was miles better than Henry. Now he reckons we’re “a one man team”.

For too long we have craved a top class centre forward. Now we’ve got one, some people reckon we’re ‘over-reliant’ on him?

    Come on.

I for one hope he scores 35 goals this season.

      What a player.

He's been outstanding for us since he signed. If he was playing for the Mancs or Arsenal, the press would be fawning over him as the new messiah.

I think a mod should change the text under Pacman's username to something a bit more suitable.....

              hang on a f-ing minute.
for 3 seasons we've a 1 man team because of stevie g's goals.

now we're a 2 man team at least (probably 3 if crouch could get a game)

Are you having a laugh? Last season, pre-Torres, Crouch scored 18 goals, Kuyt scored about 12...

If they return similar numbers this season, it will be a fantastic supplement to Torres’ twenty odd.

And he will get 20 odd.

CARRA: TORRES IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS
                    Jimmy Rice 29 November 2007
Jamie Carragher believes teammate Fernando Torres is now a match for any striker in world football.
The Spaniard has 10 goals in 16 games following his brace against Porto on Wednesday night.

Carra thinks Torres can be the 20-goal a season striker Liverpool have been crying out for since Michael Owen, but it's not just the goals that are impressing the Scouser.

"He is a world-class striker and he's probably up there with anyone now in striking terms. I only have to mark him in training, thankfully," the 29-year-old told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"It's raw pace and strength that he's got and that will cause defences problems.

"It was a big relief when he got the second goal because when it's 1-1 anything can happen. It was a great goal by Fernando, showing what a top player he is. It was a great performance from him. He's been outstanding all season but he's done it in the Champions League and in a big pressure game like that.

"He looks like becoming the 20-goal a season striker we've been crying out for but it's not just that, it's the work he puts in. He puts himself about and I think people appreciate the graft he puts in. Even if he doesn't score he makes it really tough for defenders.

"He's a great lad as well but as long as he's scoring goals it doesn't matter what he is!"

The victory over Porto means Carra and his teammates know they'll progress to the last 16 if they win in Marseille in two weeks' time.

The Stade Velodrome is not a place any of Europe's top sides relish visiting, but Liverpool's number 23 insists the Reds will hold no fear.

Carra said: "When we came into the competition we probably wouldn't have liked to be in this position but, after the start we made, we're delighted to be going there with it in our own hands.

"We realise it's going to be very difficult. We played there a few years ago in the UEFA Cup and we know the atmosphere. It will be a great game to play in, so hopefully we will get the right result now.

"We've got to have confidence in the players that we have. Marseille have got good players too and they proved that at Anfield. With our experience, and the way we have played over the last few years in Europe, we have got to be confident.

"We're Liverpool, we have good players, so we don't have to fear anyone."

That's why Rafa need to be allowed to sign another high quality striker. We can't go on hoping that Agger and Torres will stay fit the next billion years or so, that's to unrealistic.

We need cover in those two key positions.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

it didnt do arsenal any harm for a few years.

                        Mancs are reliant on Ronaldo.

the fact is he is world class and course you are going to bea reliant on him

I am merely saying we need another top class centre forward to play alongside him or be on the bench incase he gets injured.

Look at the time he was out with the abductor strain, we couldnt even score against the likes of Birmingham at home.

If you look at this season then we more or less don't score any goals in the league or CL without Torres.

Yeah, but he was on the bench that night using the power of his mind to will the ball in.

It would have been 0-0 if he hadn't been in the squad.
