Hahaha…you *******. I really, really need to expunge this myth.

I was always an ectomorph, but I have, er, morphed into a mesomorph as I’ve gotten older. Doubtless, in a few years, I’ll be an endomorph.

Fao Media:18 Million For Torres, Not 25 Or 28 Or

whatever else a paper/broadcaster chooses to make it on any given day

Don't know about anyone else but this really does my head in!
All the papers constantly quote a varying incorrect figure for how much we paid for Torres.

But it was 18 million according to todays post.

Fernando Torres is the latest big-money striker in which Liverpool have subsequently placed their faith, splashing out a club record £18million to prise the 23-year-old from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

So is it laziness on their part?
Just a case of a incorrect figure being mentioned and then constantly rehashed?
Or is it the dreaded "bias" some people talk about?
            Why.

Anyway, for my part, I think Torres should have "£18 million" placed on the back of his shirt above his name for every game.

Unfortunately, I'd imagine the commentators would still manage to say "25 million hit-man" even with it glaring them in the face.

Most papers quote the buyout figure publicised at the time. I believe the final figure was not disclosed and so they feel free to continue with whatever sounds the most exciting.

Straight after the deal normally informed people were saying the fee was in fact closer to £18m. But as it hasn't been released and in reality the prices of Torres and Garcia (both not disclosed) were probably unofficially linked it is very difficult to know what the real figure is. That is before one even considers the possibility of performance related clauses.

It served both clubs to "inflate" the price of Torres to £26.5m in the media - even though I reckon it was much, much lower.

the endless erroneous references in the press - and particularly by commentators when he scores - to how much torres cost is starting to do my ****in head in and i'm not one of those paranoid liverpool fans. like other clubs haven't spent at least 7-8 million more on players that totally haven't worked out or are far worse players than he is.

Hopefully the owners will have watched Torres and realised what 18mil can get you can give Rafa the funds in Jan to sign more quality.

Quick question for you: what makes you sure this figure is correct? after all, it is from the media... Classic case of people choosing what they want to believe, regardless of any facts.

18 million for Torres - if it was that -is an absolute steal.

I wonder how much Manure will end up paying for Tevez?

Rafa mentioned it in the PC today - said it wasn't £25m (or near, was implied or said).

I thought it was £21m the time?

To be honest a lot of credit has gone to Torres and as such I have no problem with people inflating his price. If it was a stick to beat him/Rafa with I might get annoyed.

I actually heard one pundit say that we "look like world beaters when Torres plays". He would have been worth £25m IMO.

what's also impressed me about him is that he has been more than a match for the physical aspect of the game, and has taken next to no time to settle into a different league in a different country with a different language.

He's got world class written all over him.
