According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.
I`d like to wait and see how Babel progresses as a striker before splashing out on a big money big name striker.Replacing him on the LW is more important at the moment.
Anelka would probably cost £15m+.
Aguero costs £22m.
Not that much difference and Aguero is the better option if you consider that he is younger, has the ability to become the best player in the world in a few years time, can play in more positions than Anelka, and is a team player.
Both of them are good goalscorers but Aguero is the better all around player.
He is also at least as quick as Torres with a great first touch.
If you want the better player for the future(3+ years)...Aguero.
If you only consider this season and maybe next...Anelka.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

Aguero will limit our attacking options somewhat because he can't play alone up front. Great player but I'd like a pure striker ahead of him (Not Anelka though).

i really don't think anelka would be 15mil+, i think he'd be lucky to command more than 9mil

So the net outlay necessary for Aguero, Mascherano & CB would need to be of the order of £16-20m (Assuming the CB will cost £8-10m)
That still leaves us without a much needed winger. And without Crouch's goals (as Aguero would be unproven). Somewhat of arisk - although I have to admit I know very little about Aguero.
Well, it's probably now or never. If he signs a new deal then the price will be £40m+ instead of £22m.
It all depends on how much money Rafa can spend because that position isn't our most important to strengthen right now.
We need a central defender and one out and out winger more.

If Liverpool’s supporters are smiling after a fifth consecutive victory that has helped to ease much of the tension around Anfield, here is something to make them chuckle: Manchester United passed up the chance to sign Fernando Torres in the summer because they felt that he lacked composure in front of goal. United also doubted his desire to forge a career in England after he had rejected their previous overtures to stay at Atlético Madrid. Old Trafford’s loss is proving to be Anfield’s gain.
