By the way, they didn't passed up the chance to sign him. Torres turned them down.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Oliver Kay is talking more ****e than usual.

Scum tries to sign Torres 2 seasons ago and he turned them down, in the summer he made it clear that the only club he would leave Atletico for was us.

Torres is a great player. You just know defenders are ****ting themselves when he runs at them with the ball. He makes intelligent runs too.

Aguero would be a waste of money IMO.

I say that because I think we need to address other areas of the team first before we buy a "luxury" like Aguero.
We have Benayoun on sparkling form and already settled in to play the Aguero role.

There's no way we'll sign Mascherano AND Aguero in Jan.
IF we sell Crouch or Kuyt (although Crouch is much more likely ) then I'd like to see us sell Momo, Riise and Pennant and sign Mascherano, a decent right winger and a decent left back/centre back. Chiellini or Kompany or whoever is available and not CL cup-tied.Quaresma seems to be the only winger who's making a name for himself at the moment.

If we did do that piece of business, I'd be amazed.

Strikers would be Torres, Benayoun, Babel, Kuyt/Crouch and Voronin.

Sorry I am with AFII on this one.

Firstly, for those talking about Anelka, he could replace Crouch but for me I prefer to keep big Pete.

One of Voronin and Kuyt will go eventually and in my dreamworld that would be January for Aguera (Summer would be fine). Aguero would play in the link role ala Bergkamp and with Torres ahead well......

I really think that £22m at this moment would be a big risk on Aguero. I think if we get a creative attacking playing it should be one capable of playing on the left. I haven't seen him play more than once but a young player from the Spainish league who doesn't look physically particularly strong is always a gamble and we don't have £22m or anything like it lying around IMO.

I think all things considered Anelka who I suspect would end up more in the £10m-£15m bracket would be a better option to replace one of Kuyt or Voronin. He has shown he is capable of playing as the deeper of two forwards on occasion for both Bolton and Man City in the PL and he would give us another option of a player with genuine pace.

I also think selling Crouch would be a mistake. Although we need to get a new contract sorted out for him soon.

A defender is a must the other players are just players that would make us stronger but a central defender is the only position we must sign up in January.

The other positions can wait until the summer if there isn't signs of that a player Rafa want will be signed up by another club.

Watched the first half of the Betis v Atleti match yesterday and Aguero look excellent, wonderful chipped through ball to set up Forlan for their goal. PLayed in the hole, very skillful, great eye for a pass, tremendous pace, stronger than you would imagine and a good finisher.

He would do nicely for us in my opinion, however at £22m its a definite non starter.

£22m isn't that expensive when you consider the price you will have to pay for quality now.

He is also still young and will improve a lot. He isn't close to be the finished article.

Eto'o for example would probably cost around £25m, Kaka probably £50m+, Messi £50m+, Ronaldo £50m+, Ribery £20m+. That's the sort of players that you can compare Aguero with. He isn't overpriced at £22m.

If you want proven quality then it will cost a lot of money because you won't be alone wanting that player.

£22 million IS expensive when you consider we only paid £18 million for Torres

£22m is expensive but then what top players aren't?

Saw a bit of Aguero last night and he looked a cut above the rest. He's pure class. It's a pipe dream but I'd pay it without a moments hesitation.

That was only because Torres ruled out other clubs. If he hadn't done that then he would have costed £26.5m.

I don't think Aguero would rule out other clubs even if he is a Liverpool supporter but who knows. I also doubt that Atletico would sell him for less than £22m because they know that they will get that for him if they decide to sell him.
