He's a fabulous talent no question about that and i'm delighted we have him on board.
Although sometimes his touch lets him down and he runs into trouble a bit. Anyone notice this?
Still he's ridiculously good.

lad i was watching said something similar, but the fact is all great srikers miss plenty per game. I would say the most clinical of modern day was RVN and he regularly missed a few every game.

i think torres makes us all more excited as he picks the ball up deeper, whereas half the time with fowler the ball was in the back of the net before anyone knew anything abiut it

I was dubious when we first bought him. I didn't believe the hype and did not believe that he could adapt to English Football. But thoughts so far


1:He can take the rough and tumble of English footie.

2:The goal he took tonight was international quality.

3:He is potentially the best striker we have ever had. No other striker we have had could have scored that goal
-Owen is fast enough but his touch and control was shocking and he could not do that at close quarters
-Fowler/Rush.....better finishers than Torres but nowhere near as quick or a skilful. Neither could have dribbled and scored that goal.

4:He was only a few million more than Bent!

5:Once his finishing becomes more consistent, and his progress continues then the season after next he will be by far the best striker in the world.

Comparing different players is always tricky. torres has Owens pace but Owen was capable of such goals as Torres scored tonight.
torres is quick but so was Rushie and Ruahie was the beter finisher although he couldn't beat a man as torres does.

Torres is a top notch player, but we've had many of those upfront. The true test comes over time. To be ranked with our greats he needs to produce this form for season after season, not just over 20 games or so.

Sorry, don't agree with Owen or Fowler bit. I have seen both score similar goals...both Mikey and Robbie had great first touches when they were 23. As they got older their touch began to desert them.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, Torres is still way behind Dalglish, Rush, Fowler and maybe Owen in terms of best strikers at the club. And I love him to bits already.
