    Why can't we...

...win the league this year? I've been saying over and over again that we won't but I'm starting to entertain the possibility. Unfortunately, Arsenal simply aren't slipping up so far, but we're at least at the same level with the others, and on our current form I would fancy us against anyone.

It's December now and we've yet to lose in the league. If we win the game in hand we have over Chelsea and Utd, we'd be ahead of both of them in the table, behind only Arsenal. Only Arsenal have scored more goals than we have in the league, despite our poor form over September and October. We're even with Arsenal for best goal difference in the league. And, we've let in fewer goals than any side in the league.

I also wonder if this row between Rafa and the owners might actually have lit a fire under the team and the supporters. Is it possible for us to continue riding this wave all the way through May?

That being said, I still don't fancy our chances relative to the other usual suspects. Arsenal, of course, have the benefit of being at the top for the time being. Also, we'll have our hands full during the second half of the season, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U and Spurs all away, as well as away fixtures against West Ham and Fulham...let's face it, London hasn't been kind to us recently.

I still don't think we'll do it but, then again, why can't we? If we beat Man U at Anfield in two weeks' time, I just might start believing.

    We can

It's a long race, only time will tell if we have the quality and the mettle. We're definitely in with a chance this season though. Only a fool would rule us out.

we can, i have been saying it all along, and to be honest, if we dont win, i think we will go damn close.
Honestly speaking, when each team is on the top of their game, we are the best. Not only because of our ability to score, but because of our ability to keep the opposition quiet. If we can find some consistancy and some confidence against the rest of the big 4, we will win the league.
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Yes, yes we can. It will be a tight title race this season and we'll be involved.

If we beat Utd, we can win it. The table on 01 Jan 2008 will tell us an awful lot about Arsenal's durability over the Christmas period.

If we're within 6 pts of the top on New Year's Day we have a very good chance. We can beat anyone on our day. We just need to be in touch enough to make the big "6 point" matches count. Under Rafa to date, we've never been able to do that in the league.

I'm kind of afraid to think about it too much but, the way we've been banging in goals lately, it's hard not to.

I've been supporting LFC for 12 years now. I've gotten excited at the prospect of us winning the league three times. The first time was back in '96, when we started off quite well...it was Berger's first season with us, and we had beaten Chelsea I think 5-0 at Anfield. I remember us leading the table for a good part of the season, and then it all fell apart, with Collymore losing his marbles and us finishing 4th.

Then, I bought into the hype over Ince being the missing piece of the puzzle...we all know how that turned out.

The third and last time was back in '02, after finishing second, I thought we were primed for a championship run. Then, of course, Houllier brought in the likes of Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou to be the final pieces of our championship puzzle, and his tenure as our manager began to unravel with that awful winless run after starting the season with an impressive undefeated run.

Since then, I've refused to seriously entertain the possibility, I guess because I'd rather avoid the disappointment. But, speaking from the point of view of someone who started supporting Liverpool around the time Man United started winning everything, it would be really ****ing cool.

If we follow form of the final part of the past few years then we are in with a good chance, we are always stronger than the other teams in the second part of the season. My only real worry is how good Arsenal look, I am starting to wonder if they will lose at all.

If ian wright on the ladbrooks advert says we will than we still have a chance.
In all seriousness thoug, it will be extremly tight this season. I can see all 4 going to the final couple of weeks. Chelsea will come up short though and be the first to fall

Take a look at the 2nd half of the Villa game, they are not infallible.

I watched it, the second half told me that they are determined not to lose. Villa were all over them but they still won.

If other teams can learn from O`Neils tactics then Arsenil will drop points.

True but we have said that before about other teams being beaten. All teams will do what they had planned anyway.
I am hoping that Pompey, chavs and the bitters take points off them in the lead up to new year. If that happens and we can beat utd then we have a chance.

Keep Torres and Gerrard fit and we have a real chance.

A couple of quality signings in January wouldn't go a miss either.
