...win the league this year? I've been saying over and over again that we won't but I'm starting to entertain the possibility. Unfortunately, Arsenal simply aren't slipping up so far, but we're at least at the same level with the others, and on our current form I would fancy us against anyone.
It's December now and we've yet to lose in the league. If we win the game in hand we have over Chelsea and Utd, we'd be ahead of both of them in the table, behind only Arsenal. Only Arsenal have scored more goals than we have in the league, despite our poor form over September and October. We're even with Arsenal for best goal difference in the league. And, we've let in fewer goals than any side in the league.
I also wonder if this row between Rafa and the owners might actually have lit a fire under the team and the supporters. Is it possible for us to continue riding this wave all the way through May?
That being said, I still don't fancy our chances relative to the other usual suspects. Arsenal, of course, have the benefit of being at the top for the time being. Also, we'll have our hands full during the second half of the season, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Man U and Spurs all away, as well as away fixtures against West Ham and Fulham...let's face it, London hasn't been kind to us recently.
I still don't think we'll do it but, then again, why can't we? If we beat Man U at Anfield in two weeks' time, I just might start believing.
