Liverpool v Reading (a)- Build up Thread

With Arsenal set to extend their lead over us to 9 points tonight, it is again key that we beat Reading and stay in touch, also my mate who supports Reading has tickets to this so we better win otherwise he will be bragging about it for ages!

Carra has 4 yellow cards and 1 more will mean he would miss the Mancs game...

    Hobbs to play?

We have a good record against Reading, so hope that continues and Torres bags another hat-trick!

As for the starting XI, i would go for:

    -----------Reina-----------
    Finnan-Hobbs-Hyypia-Arbeloa
    Yossi-Gerrard-Mascher-Kewell
    -------Crouch-Torres-------

I think sissoko might get a run out for this one.

      ----------------Reina---------------
      Finnan --- Hobbs --- Hypia --- Waiter
      Mascherano --- Sissoko ----- Kewell
      --------------Gerrard---------------
      -----------Voronin Kuyt--------------

while reading aren't playin amazin this year, and torres has two important roles to play in the following week, i'd expect him to start or play a part at the weekend, especially if arsenal win tonight stretching the lead to 9

Agree that Momo will probably get a game Vs Reading, bearing in mind the games Vs Marseille and Scum coming up.

We have 9 games in 5 weeks now, so I am expecting a fair bit of "rotation" through December.

As for the defence Vs Reading, agree that Carra wont be risked, but I have a feeling Rafa will opt for a back 4 of

          FINNAN - ARBELOA - HYYPIA - RIISE

Id throw a hungry Hobbs in meself. The lad finally looks like he`s not in awe of the players around him and is ready to make a name for himself.

I would still play Carra in this regardless of the fact he's a yellow away from suspension. Its a tricky away match and we need pretty much our strongest side out IMO.

Dont take Reading too lightly, they have been very hit and miss lately but on their day they will make it very difficult for us.

              ---------------Reina-----------
              Arbeloa--Carra--Hyypia--Aurelio
              Benayoun-Masch-Gerrard-Babel-
              --------Torres--Crouch--------

Very tempting to rest Torres but he tore Reading apart in the Carling Cup so I would give him 60 mins to do the same again then take him of if we are ahead.

I expect reading will have learned their lesson from the last game and defend much deeper this time around.

Ta Coops. Any idea when he's going to back in contention to play? It's been 'hopefully next week' since the Arsenal game.

He was looking ready to start again around the arsenal game. But apparantly he stepped it up a bit too much in training trying to get back.

He started getting pain again in the same metatarsal so theyve eased him back in training again.

They havent got a set time on this as its a weird one, they are though looking at getting a special pair of boots made to protect the metatarsal which may enable him to play.

Hobbs is too inexperienced and not quick enough to play against the likes of Lita and Doyle IMO, Kitson's not bad either. I'd play Carra and haul him off if we go 2 up.

                            My side would be:

                            REINA
                            FINNAN CARRA HYYPIA ARBELOA
                            BENAYOUN MASHER GERRARD KEWELL
                            TORRES KUYT

With Babel on the bench to replace Kewell on 55-60 mins and The Crow/Crouch to keep Torres fresh once he's made his impact.
