voronin, kyut and momo should never all start together. sorry amigo but your lineup doesn't inspire me. i know this is potentially our easiest game on paper but i hope we start with a stronger line up and rest gerrard, torres etc at half time

Doubt Carra, Gerrard or Torres will start (sure Rafa will surprise me and go with all 3 now)

      I'd guess at

      Reina
      Finnan Hobbs Hyppia Arbeloa
      Babel Sissoko Mascherano Kewell
      Voronin Kuyt

Expect that if its nil-nil Gerrard and Torres will come on late.
I'll be ****ing furious if he goes with that side.

Agreed that those 3 mentioned shouldn't really start too many games together. each of them has a place in the squad at the moment, but to play all of them together would weaken us a fair bit IMO.

Kewell will be perfect for Marseille so I reckon Babel or Riise will start on the left for Reading.

              Babel!!!

Please God, not Riise. Hitler is a better left winger than Riise.

I think Torres and Stevie will both start, but no so sure about Carra.
I would not rest a player who is on fire at the moment, and both STevie and Torres are causing huge problems for opponents.

Added to that Torres should actually be pretty fresh as he did not play for a couple weeks and was also not risked by Spain during the international break.

Now that was a great midfield. Goebbels on the left, Bormann on the (far)right, Axman sweeping up and Hitler's penetrating runs behind the strikers.....

RAFA: TORRES CAN HANDLE BIG WEEK
                        Jimmy Rice 07 December 2007

Rafa Benitez claims he'd have no doubts about selecting Fernando Torres for what is likely to be a physical clash with Reading this weekend despite having massive games against Marseille and Man Utd just around the corner.

The boss has yet to decide who will make his starting 11 for the trip to the Madejski, but says the battering Torres got last time the teams met would have no bearing on his selection.

Benitez said: "I think it will be difficult for all our players because Reading are physical and they are strong.

"It is especially difficult for the strikers. But Torres is strong enough and he also has ability and good movement, so if the team is playing well he can manage with the physical game.

"I think Torres can produce good movement and it will be difficult to control him.

"He has been resting for one month so he is fresh and we can use him more often now.

"The key for me is when you have two games in a week, with only two or three days in between, it makes a big difference in how you play.

"But Torres is fit and we don't have any problems about him playing two or three games now."

Benitez added that some players are better suited to the demands of back to back fixtures.

"We try to manage the players, but some players can handle the games better than others," he said.

"If we can talk about one - Momo Sissoko - he can play at a very high tempo and be fit in two or three days. Other players who are older or who play in another position may need four or five days. So you need to know all these things.

"Torres is a player who can work for the team, but I am pleased with all our strikers.

"Voronin can do the job, Crouch can do the job and Kuyt can do the job, too. All of them work hard to defend for the team and all of them can go forward and score goals.

"So I am really pleased with the forwards."

I think Babel will lineup alongside Crouch up front at the start tomorrow.
Nah. He won't win the Prem. You can quote me on that. - Sarb24

I think that Rafa won`t be resting Gerrard or Torres. We just had week off and after Marseille game we will have 5 days to prepare for scum game. Then they can be rested against chavs ( who we will batter anyway ) and be fresh and raring to go for christmas fixtures.

The future is bright, the future is red.
