I would rather see us finish fourth than third.

No point to play in the UEFA Cup. I know that it's another trophy but it's to many games to play before you reach the final and it would hurt our chances to win the league.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

Do you honestly think that even if we didn't play another cup game this season we would win the league?

We are getting closer but still not good enough. Another busy couple of transfer windows with some serious backing should do it.

Personally, a UEFA Cup final would be nice. 15 minutes from home and looking at the state of the teams that could be in it, we would be firm favourites.
Twin boys - now arriving late August 2008.

Its gonna be Fernando and Gerrard if I get my way!

I know what you mean AF.

If it were up to me, I would treat the UEFA Cup with utter contempt and field as many reserves as possible.
It's not good because it's rude. It's good because it looks like it's good because it's rude.

I would play with players like Nemeth and Hobbs for example in the UEFA Cup. Players that need experience or that need to play games to stay match fit.

Not any regular starting XI players at all.

We could end up missing out on a CL place next season if Torres for example would get injured playing in the UEFA Cup.

I can take it if he gets injured playing in the league or CL, **** happens, but if he got injured playing in a game he shouldn't even be considered playing in, then that would really make me

Riise ****ed me off more than any other player today.

Apart from the freekick, everything he did was utter ****e.

He can't pass, can't defend, **** in the air and scud missiles are more accurate than his shooting.

There is no way I'd play him against Marseille.

If Finnan is fit, then Arbeloa on the left.

We need experienced heads, so Masch along side Stevie for me.

                    Reina
                    Finnan Carra Sami Arbeloa
                    Benayoun SG Mascherano Kewell
                    Crouch Torres

Unfortunately, I'm not sure if we could play anybody we didn't register with UEFA at the start of the season.

Our Champions League squad list is:

                      Goalkeepers

                      25 Pepe Reina
                      30 Charles Itandje
                      40 David Martin

                      Defenders

                      No Name
                      3 Steve Finnan
                      4 Sami Hyypiä
                      5 Daniel Agger
                      6 John Arne Riise
                      12 Fábio Aurélio
                      17 Álvaro Arbeloa
                      23 Jamie Carragher
                      39 Stephen Darby
                      44 Robert Threlfall *
                      46 Jack Hobbs *

                      Midfielders

                      No Name
                      7 Harry Kewell
                      8 Steven Gerrard
                      11 Yossi Benayoun
                      14 Xabi Alonso
                      16 Jermaine Pennant
                      20 Javier Mascherano
                      21 Lucas Leiva
                      22 Mohamed Sissoko
                      33 Sebastian Leto
                      34 Jay Spearing *
                      35 Ray Putterill *
                      36 Ryan Flynn *

                      Forwards

                      No Name
                      9 Fernando Torres
                      10 Andriy Voronin
                      15 Peter Crouch
                      18 Dirk Kuyt
                      19 Ryan Babel
                      38 Craig Lindfield *
I think players with a * are those who are only illegible to play if the others aren't available.

He's ****ing wank. Sorry I know he's somehow still got fans on here but he's awful.

Them two crosses in the 2nd half summed his last 18months or so up. One cross ****ed up, fair enough it happens, he then goes and does exactly the same thing about a minute ****ing later. We need better than him. And we've got better but Fab is always crocked and Finnan keeps getting injured meaning Alvaro cant go out there.

if we were not to beat Marseilles I would prefer for this to happen and not be in UEFA cup. Then we can concentrate on the league 100%.

Kuyt/Kewell/Benayoun/Finnan will all start. Arebloa at left back (please!)

Isn't winning the UEFA worth summat like 10 million bones?

not that i'm even contemplating the fact of being in the uefa cup, but you can change your lineup in jan, otherwise how would new signings get a look in, might be different altogether if you drop into the uefa, but it's not goin to happen

That is the exact team I would pick if all were avaliable and bring on Babel with 30 minutes to go to freshen things up.

if that team play as they can do and we approach the game with the correct mentality we should win comfortably
