    Xabi is back

Liverpool have been boosted by news Xabi Alonso could return from his metatarsal injury to face Man Utd this weekend.
However, Rafa Benitez has fresh injury worries after Steve Finnan emerged as a doubt.

A knock which kept the Ireland international out of the Marseille game could prevent him playing this weekend.

Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Alonso was training today and hopefully he will be okay for the weekend. He might have problems because he hasn't trained with the group for a long time, but physically he will be fit.

"Finnan is injured – will have to check on him to see if he can play at the weekend.

"Agger will need a little bit more time."

    Good news.

    But will he be risked?

If Masch and Gerrard and fit I can only see Xabi making the bench for this one.

It's a huge ask to expect him to slot back in for a game this big.

Xabi will be a big gain in terms of ball retention and creativity. With that in mind I'd now expect to see

          --------Xabi Masher----
          Benayoun Gerrard Kewell
          ---------Torres---------

          On sunday.

It's impossible he'll play for that match. Stevie and Mascher will be hard to displace.

We thought that when we played Arsenal.

It's just nice to have the pass master back.

How long has Agger been out for now, it seems a long time. I think we need him back to ease the pressure on big Sami. Playing two games a week will begin to take it's tole soon. I'd hate that to be this weekend when he has to face the pace of that cheating, diving fake ronaldo. I think we'll need good cover from midfield and whoever plays at left back as I suspect manure will try and isolate ronaldo again Sami.

Glad Xabi is back tho, especially with Masher being a doubt and Momo not being in form at the moments. I'm sure Lucas would be comfortable playing in a game like this but we need other options. Saying that even with the millions manure have spent on midfielders I think we should be able to win the battle for midfield and then dictate the play from there.

If his confidence hadn't been knocked so much, Momo would probably be the man for the job.
Great news on Xabi, though. Bring him back at Derby next week.
I'm playing all the right notes. Not necessarily in the right order. I'll give you that, sunshine.
