    The real deal with Mascherano

The reason Rafa wants to move fast with this deal is that there is no 'First Option' clause in his 18 month loan contract. Whoever made this stupid error, the blame has to be with Parry for striking the deal, could cost Liverpool a fantastic player and possibly the title. Kia Joorabchian claims that he asked Liverpool whether they wanted the clause implemented or not and Liverpool refused the offer. Whether the deal was made whilst Rafa was sleeping, I don't know hence why we heard Rafa ranting about the owners because if Mascherano had the 'First Option' clause, Rafa wouldn't be moving as hesitantly and instantly before the January transfer window amongst his other targets.

This is from Gabriele Marcotti who was speaking on 5 Live Sport who claimed to have talked to both sources at Anfield and Kia Joorabchian himself.

If this is true then Parry should be sacked.

No first option means that Masch can talk to other clubs in January and sign a deal with whoever he want.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm not concerned by the lack of contractual protection (if true, and personally I wouldn't give that pretentious arrogant prick Marcotti the time of day) because I'm certain Mascher wants to stay.

I'm more worried about the club dithering, making the lad feel unwanted and forcing him to look elsewhere, a la the Gerrard fiasco.

Rafa has come out and said he wants to sign Jefe. Don't think he will feel left out. If Rafa is going to make one player feel wanted and give a hug once in a while its Jefe.

Yes, no doubt Rafa would have eased his fears and made him feel wanted. But if the club hesitate in putting a deal before him, coupled with the rumours that Rafa doesnt have the backing of the owners, then he might start having doubts and exploring other option.

masch wants to stay so the 1st option doesn't really matter, although this is a good enough reason to get rid of parry

it does matter, otherwise we can be out priced...

this report is bull**** of the highest order, it was widely reported that mach came on a 18 month loan deal with a permanent clause in the deal, if there was a permanent clause in the contract then there must have been a fixed price that we would have had to pay, this was well documented everywhere at the time and was never disputed, and there where reports that the reason the FA approved the deal was infact due to the permanent clause and they wouldn't allow it other wise. so maybe it isn't called a 1st option but something else but it's as well ducumented as tevez's 10 mill for 2 yrs + X for a permanent move...

Whether this story is true or not it is VERY believeable due to Parrys involvement and the inevitable **** up that usually follows him

"1st option" means sod all. It's the players decision on he chooses to sign for out of the potential buyers.
