play hobbs, sami is long past his best

Hobbs has potential and he needs games to improve, but LFC is not the place, where to practise playing football. We should loan him out. At the moment Arbeloa is a better option.

"Agger will be fit to play"

      How do you know?

Sami, while he's not as good as he was before, is still million times better than Hobbs.

It would be a big call to play Hobbs against Man City. I think there is the hint of a good player there and only experience will make him blosom but at the minute largely through no fault of his own he has been in losing teams and that can't do him any good confidence wise.

I would be happier doing it if we had say Alonso and Mascher in front of him and played Gerrard higher up the pitch.

people like you are unfortunately the reason why we'll never see another Carra in the team. You need to have patience with young players, not everyone of them can come on the scene like Micah Richards.

But I have been impressed with Hyypia of late, he had a fine game against Utd and even though the legs have gone he's used his guile & experience to great effect. He's still our best defender in the air. Just because he gets skinned occasionally doesn't make him ****.

your entitled to your opinion - even if it is wrong

Rafa may not have a choice, if Agger isn't fit and if Arbeloa is still suffering from flu.

I think we might well see another Carra if Rafa remains in his job though. He is very strong minded and if he rates someone is willing to give them every chance. A lot of people were on Carra's back I seem to remember when he played as a fullback so I'm not sure the environment for young players to develop has changed that much.

Obviously, 'a million times' is hyperbole, but Sami is still a top class CB. Hobbs isn't, yet.

Goes without saying, I'd still rather have Hobbs at CB than Riise though, because I'm not mental.

                            Exactly.

If he is our only available recognised centre-back, of course he should play.

It is in circumstances like these that youngsters are supposed to be given a chance and if he is good enough to play against Reading, he is good enough to play against Manchester City.

bring young hobbs in, the only way we will every know if he's up to the grade if we play him.

I'd rather have a lamp-post at CB than Riise. At least the lamp-post would be in the right place sometimes.
