He is past his best, but he is not that bad a defender, we would have been lost without him this year, and if Agger doesn't become fit in time, Sammi will be sorely missed.
Personally, if it was up to me now on who to play next, I would be playing Hobbs if Agger is not fit. I do believe if he is good enough he is old enough. He wont get any better without games either. Rafa will have him well drilled anyway.
Plus, it wont be that long until we bring in another centre back or flexible defender (jan)
Bill shankly to Tommy Smith after he'd turned up for training with a bandaged knee:
'Take that poof bandage off, and what do you mean YOUR knee, it's LIVERPOOL'S knee !'

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Goes without saying, I'd still rather have Hobbs at CB than Riise though, because I'm not mental.
sami - fantastic in his day, now however not good enough for liverpool fc in a vital position CB. mid-table prem maybe.

hobbs needs his chance, how else will he improve.

i know if i made a mistake at the back and carra tore me a new arse i wouldnt make the same mistake again !!!! even though it would be hard to understand what to **** he was shouting about - i have no doubt he would get his point across

If he is our only available recognised centre-back, of course he should play.

It is in circumstances like these that youngsters are supposed to be given a chance and if he is good enough to play against Reading, he is good enough to play against Manchester City.

        You're still a cunt though.

I have to disagree on your first point I think Sami has had a few better games than Carra recently, he played super in the merseyside derby and has kicked on from there imo he looks great of late.

Hobbs needs games but Citeh will require experience and imo this would be too big a game for young Hobbs, we want to build confidence in the lad not throw him in at the deep end.

I know that caused Carras form to drop when Agger went out of the side but in recent weeks Sami has more than held his own and Carras form recovered.

Sami has been very good of late. He is clearly winding down in terms of his LFC career but if you want a 3rd choice CB for the PL then I don't really see any of the top four having anyone better (although Alex is improving).

We need extra cover a/ for the future and b/ because Sami can't play 3 games a week which we will have to cope with at times in the rest of the season.

Arbeloa used to play there for Deportivo. I'd give him a go...

If all you want to do is swear at each other then get on msn or somewhere because this is getting seriously boring.
