Correct, but it'll be massaged to something like 'well technically it's not the s*n, so thats OK, and anyway, Bascombe writes for them, so it must be OK'.

      • "Nobody demanding the Premiership this year or any year but the fans expect to be in "contention". That's the main goal for Rafa and for the board."
      • "We appointed Rafa on the back him having experience of winning a major championship and that's what we are aiming for here."
      • "The recent meeting was cordial and positive and gave everybody the chance to air their views and remain focussed."
      • "Money at Liverpool is always available if we need it. We spent more money this year than any other year and the whole business model is based on success."
      • "The stadium is going ahead as planned and we will still have funds for transfers."

I didn't see much wrong with what he says to be honest but I don't trust him one bit and his take on how much we spent is bollocks.

No mention of wages etc or paying for past transfers.

Ah but that wouldn't suit the argument would it.

If in doubt blame Parry. How narrow minded.

Exactly, and to be honest those three are fools for doing it. After all, Owens VERY trustworthy isnt he? Footballers arent always the smartest people on the planet either.

Bear in mind that since 99/00 and since 2004/05 Television Revenue has increased by about £40-50m a season (POSTED BY REBEL23 ON TLW)
Look at it the other way though; we now have a manager who is able to sell players - who haven't cut it - for a decent return, compared to our previous manager who, like some drunken degenerate gambling sailor, pissed away millions and millions on ****e and getting no return whatsoever.

I just don't understand this net spend nonsense at all. Surely it makes sense not to put the club finances in jeopardy if we can improve the side by using money from selling players who aren't good enough?

Say the summer comes along and we sign two £15-20m pound players, but then we just don't bother to sell players like Pennant, Sissoko, Voronin, Riise and Kuyt. Players who are clearly not likely to start often, if at all, who most will agree aren't good enough, but who still have some re-sale value.

It doesn't matter how you much you spend net, it's that you improve the side. And, so far, each year Rafa has done that without spending loads in terms of net, so why start now?
