The best thing to do with Parry statements is take them on face value and don't interpret them. The first statement about the ground he made did not say we were still building the space age one, most people assumed it. He did say we would still be building a stadium that would hold 70,000 people approx. This is the problem with what Rashid has posted, we really would need to read it word for word and not interpret it. He uses politician speak.

He never lies, he is not ecenomical with the truth BUT he will hold stuff back so not to stuff himself. I totally believe him if he says something because he has not been proven to lie.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostBeing economical with the truth is a bit different from being led astray though. I've said before Parry is one of the few REDS who is in the hierarchy of the club and if we can't trust a fellow red to be doing the best for the club then who can we trust?

Fair enough it was badly phrased. Although I think the point still stands that I don't put any trust in what Parry says to the media in the sense that he will always say something bland and broadly positive.Originally posted by Red Chilli View PostBeing economical with the truth is a bit different from being led astray though. I would hope that at times he has other opinions behind the scenes. I don't mean to sound like AFII blaming Parry for all the ills of the club but I don't take his press quotes as gospel."The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind."

So, people ask for the club to make statements. Why? They may as well not bother because people like you know better and tell us lesser beings not to trust them. I dont know what more Parry can say really, and cant understand the level of personal animosity toward him.
Play the Man of the Match game in the sticky thread!

He does his job and he gives the media what they are entitled to but he doesn't elaborate.
I respect the man, he's done a lot for this club.Originally posted by Gordon Brown

This continual banging on from the club about how much we spent in the summer does my head in. Now whilst we never know exactly how much outgoing transfers are because of paying up contracts etc, you must surely take sales into account.
As an extrame example to illustrate my point say in the summer we spent £70m on players but sold SG & Torres for £50m. By Parry's calculations it would be the biggest spend on players ever, but the reality would be somewhat different.AKA Heighway No9

But surely that highlights the futility of these stats. Sure if Rafa sold Gerrard it would be seen as a bad thing but if he sold Kuyt for 50 million and signed Villa for 40 million I wouldn't be complaining that our net spend was minus 10 million.Originally posted by Sir Bob View PostThis continual banging on from the club about how much we spent in the summer does my head in. It's all about context but in this sense we haven't sold any players who weren't "unwanted" by the manager so I don't see why it should be factored in.
Also who cares how much we spend? If that's all it's about then we may as well go and support Chavski or SCUM.

Parry: Money Is Always Available
PARRY: MONEY IS ALWAYS AVAILABLE
Jimmy Rice 31 December 2007
Rick Parry has not ruled out the possibility of new signings in the January transfer window.
The Liverpool chief executive has revealed money will be made available if additions to the squad are deemed necessary.
Parry said: "Money is always available if we need it.
"We're not going to give our plans away, but if we need to do something, we'll do it.
"We spent more money this summer than ever before. The whole business model for the Americans is based on success.
"There is no point investing in a new stadium and having a team that isn't successful – clearly I'm not going to quote figures but there hasn't been any change of budget."
Parry also stressed that he, the club's owners and Rafa Benitez shared the same vision for Liverpool's future.
He added: "Nobody is demanding we win the Premier League this year or any other year.
"But I think the supporters have an expectation that at least we are going to be in contention and there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
"We are still in contention without a doubt. If we can carry form into the New Year there's absolutely no reason why we can't compete.
"That's the goal for all of us. It's the goal for Rafa, for the supporters and it's a goal for the owners. It's absolutely a shared vision.
"We appointed Rafa because we wanted a manager with experience of winning a major championship. That's what we're aiming for.
"The recent meeting was extremely good. It was cordial and it was very, very positive.
"It gave us the chance to make sure everybody understands where everyone else is coming from. Now, we're just focused on the second half of the season."
Very interesting and timely.

We just got through with all the negative "Rafa is getting sacked" ****e and "The owners are rubbish,we have no money" ****e and now when our CEO says we have transfer money you brush it off as spin.
You seem to lead the Doommongers on all the other speculation but brush off the one positive statement from the board we`ve heard in months.
