Any fan who says Anfield isn't quiet these days is living in denial. Every game i have been to this season barring 1 has had a crap atmosphere

It is indeed poor, but I think seating, too much football on tv, and general poor play are at the root of it. Most grounds are suffering. The passion is also slowly seeping out of football. It has become too trendy.

Was lucky enough to get to the Portsmouth and Wigan (thanks Kilopapa) games this Christmas (I live in Madrid). Could hardly recognise the sound of the place. My last home game was the Arsenal FA cup "Justice For The 96" game - what a difference.

Had much singing been happening at Portsmouth, the away fans drowned out everything anyway from where I was sitting in the Main Stand. They're loud and energetic, I'll give them that. Who was that half naked guy in the blue and white checked top hat? He never sat down once it seemed.

My nephew (7) got a bit freaked out by their verbal support and the apparent lack of ours at only his second game. The two second half goals cheered him up at least and shut up the Portsmouth lot by about 25%.

I reckon with all the BS floating around in the media at the moment about Statler & Waldorf, Rafa (IRWT), debt financing and the stadium, a large proportion of the fans are a bit unsettled and not much in the mood for singing at bread and butter games like these. Definitely not with with Chrimbo /NYE hangovers anyway.

BTW if any one knows any Reds in or around Madrid, please PM me. We are looking for new recruits.
Wirral wool, now in Madrid via Milan. Forza Inter, pero c'é solo Liverpool per me.

'Of course I didn't take my wife to see Rochdale as an anniversary present.
            It was her birthday.
Would I have got married during the football season ?
            Anyway, it was Rochdale reserves.'

To many no passionate football fans in the stadiums now. The real fans are priced out.

I wish that they could come up with some way to create some safe standing areas because it's much easier to stand and sing your heart out.

Instead of a big area for standing it could be four areas with for example 1k in each, one in every corner. That way the singing would be all around the ground and would also help out the sitting fans to join in.

I don't want standing in the grounds back until it's safe to introduce it, just to make that clear.
Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

The derby last season was one of the most appalling game of football I've ever seen from us. Ran that Marseille home game close. So I guess, that's why the support was poor.

It is very safe to introduce standing areas. Here in Germany, I often go to watch Dortmund and stand on their Kop with 20 000 other fans. The barriers have built in drop down seats so most fans can sit at half time or just to have a rest. Also, all games are all ticket so overcrowding is not an issue.

You can also take beer onto the tearraces from the 5 billion beer outlets inside the ground, if you have a seat, the beer dudes come to you, with jetpacks on their back, full of beer, mmmmmm beer !

tickets to stand up, this season have gone up to 12 euros, but even the tax dodging students can afford £10.

Those that killed her, were following the law.

If they have seats it will only hold as many people as a seated stand wont it?
Also got to say don't want standing back.

I hate to say this but there would be a huge risk of crowd trouble in English football grounds with this set up.

how do you come to that conclusion?
the german setup is the perfect example of how i'd like us to go.
the food/beer tents around the stadium will probably never happen but there is no reason why their standing model couldnt be implemented over here.

It's been **** for a fair few years, i'm always singing and shouting, mostly it's a reflex, as people look at me like i'm a nutter, and I find that if people don't join in i get less and less vocal as the match goes on. Against Wigan a few years back when crouchie baged his first goals some **** actually told me I was being too loud.
