And why is it that they have yet to spend a cent of their own money on this investment?

I think Hicks has called the press' bluff here and admitted it happened and explained why. As I said earlier, it was the best he could do.
The statement of support that everyone wanted has now been given and the $$
for Skrtel might have been another olive branch from them but at the end of the day this is and has been very, very tacky and undignified.

Tom Hicks today admitted the club's owners held a meeting with Jurgen Klinsmann over the possibility of becoming the next manager of Liverpool - but that Rafa Benitez can now count on the full backing of both chairmen.

How lame does that sound? If I were Rafa I'd be looking for a club where the owners would give him a little respect.

I do hope you are right, but there is too much crap flying about.

Plus it's Klinsmann FFS! Are we overlooking this one simple fact Disco? Is he the kind of "manager" you want to take over from Rafa?

The media are gonna spunk themselves over this. Put this way, if my company started looking for alternatives for my job... i'd hand my notice in there and then! And i'm deadly serious about that, i'm very principled. I believe Rafa is as well.

Now my position would clearly never make the press, but that obviously exacerbates the position. Loads will see this post as a grand overreaction, but IMO i would not be surprised if Rafa walked off the back of this. The only caveat for me is he'd be waving goodbye to 6m compo (and maybe this is part of Hick's plan). Also obviously - the love i believe Rafa has for the club. I don't actually think Rafa will stay for the 6m he'd be losing... he'll walk into a top job in Spain.

Look we all said in the past that Rafa would be unlikely to take the Real Madrid job because of the way they treat their managers over there. We are now as much of a farce as Real Madrid - no question! The way Hicks has treated Rafa since he has took over has been a complete, unequivocal DISGRACE!

famous club. for years we have prided ourselves by keeping the media clueless to

internal affairs. im actually embarrassed at whats hapening right now and a manc cunt

******* just text me about the latest "breaking news". other clubs are having a laugh at us.

it took us over 100 years to build our great club and in one year they have dragged it to

                      the gutter...

your a disgrace tom and george. so **** OFF NOW.

"Or there is another option. That Mr Ferguson organises the fixtures in his office and sends it to us and everyone will know and cannot complain. That is simple."

I'm not against G&T and I still want to give them time to settle in and get used to how LFC and the British press work. However they are not helping themselves and if they don't sort the financing of teh stadium soon then it is going to be hard to continue to have any faith in them.

I do think people need to calm down on here though.
Dave, do you not think that if they really are behind Rafa then coming out with a story like this is not the best way to back him/show support? This undermines the manager no matter how much they may say they have faith in him. These guys have to be more shrewd than this, or have to be better advised. Or preferably have to **** off.

If you were in Rafa's shoes, what would you do after something like that ?

NB:Assuming he didn't know anything about the Klinsmann affair. (Which is pretty certain by judging first hand Hick's statement.)

                            Just like you are.

The said they are ok and I believe they have done what they can to do this. The press wont let it lie now.

Hicks could have been more tactful. Nobody really knows why he has said it but himself. I'm sure we'll hear more from other parties soon.
