It looks like our views of what losing the dressing room means was a big part of our misunderstanding, a Hicks up.

Sorry for not making my points clear in the first place.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

I wonder if there is anyway to put a positive spin on all this?

          Nope, thought not.

ok enough hysteria, time for some calm analysis now

im shocked by this revelation - not the content because i knew it already, but the act of wilful revelation by hicks.

its inkeeping with his cash-waving, snoogy-doogying unsubtlety. in fact its pretty typical of how rich americans act.

however - just like the actions above its really really ill-judged. i dont believe its a cold calculated attempt to undermine rafa - it would be a good attempt if it were but i think its just hicks being hicks and betraying his ignorance of the cultures surrounding his newly aquired business. culturally rafa is iberian - such humiliation as this is really beyond the pail. I think rafas position is untenable after today...in the sense that his personal pride wont let him continue under the americans longer than he has to to get his fair payoff.

            is it bad? - yes
will there be a price to pay i terms of the clubs on field performances? - yes
is it the end of the world? - no
have we lost our club? - no, weve got new owners who will be themselves
will lfc replace rafa with an excellent manager when he goes? - yes
will the team still turn out at the club's ground? - yes
will we get into a spanking new ground with expanded capacity in the stated timescale? - reckon so, yes
will i be there to cheer the reds on? - yes god-willing

I suppose the only heartening thing from all this ****e is that Hicks statment contains nothing that rafa probably did not know already. At least now they are backing him (until the summer only i expect) so this should hopefully be the end of the media spin for a while. It will take a few days to settle down but then its back to business on the pitch. The appointment of a new toon manager would be good timing now.

Where the hell is steve mclaren when you need him.

Cash waiving and snoogy doogy was Gillette. Hicks is much more of a shark IMHO. Sorry to have to disagree with you, but I can't put an innocent construction on this like you have. We dealing with a ruthless leverage merchant. He'll know what effect his words are having.

I think people are overreacting to this, which, to be fair, I can understand due to the negative press recently.

I don't believe for a second that Rafa didn't know about Klinsman. I'm sure it came out in the wash when they met recently. They've now given Rafa full backing and smoothed over whatever differences they had.

They can only be accused really of naivety and poor communication. Whoever told them to release this statement needs sacking. Which makes me wonder where Rick Parry is in all of this, and is he just there seeing out his contract. Serious breakdown in communications somewhere along the line anyway.

If they had any sense and harbor hopes of getting the fans back on board, they need to dig deep and buy Rafa a top striker, as words just won't do anymore.

you might be right you might not - but i dont think these words increase the value of his asset. in fact i think they put a hole in its value due to disruption of the on-field performance. I dont think the hypothesis that hes a super smart financier making a calculated statement makes sense. If he wanted to make a fast buck from lfc, the way was to sell it quietly to DIC for half what the reported valuation was............well see

are we run by some non-footballing leverage-loonies operating on some strange logic (forcing out by underhand means of a world class manager in favour of jurgen)? - yes

i am not going to spend anything on my club until they go. in reality, we'll know for definite at the start of next season. but without real progress on the stadium, rafa, transfers and financing front, they can go to hell.
