How Gillett and Hicks could turn things around?

Surely now the only way that they can redeem themselves in the eyes of any fans would be to hold a press conference before Saturday to announce:

    1. The re-financing of the purchasing loan is complete (Hicks said a deal would be done before the end of the week). None of the acquisition debt has gone on the club, though some of the additional debt incurred since has. (the Telegraph report about a week ago suggested that this was a possibility).

    2. After a fierce competition, we have decided on HKS/AFL's plans for the new stadium (I don't care which any more). Building work will begin in the spring, and will be financed in the following way (show how we will stagger the borrowing so that we will still have at least some money for transfers while construction takes place)

    3. We would just like to put all of the rumours about Rafa to bed once and for all. He has our complete backing. We did have a problem with him late last year, as we have explained earlier in the week. But we since developed a good working relationship, and have no intention of losing him at this time.

And they need to do this as a joint press conference to help dispel rumours that they are falling out amongst themselves.

Do this, before our next league game, and I think we could draw a line under things.

Assuming this would deal with a lot of people's concerns, does anyone reckon it's even a remote possibility?

I think there's an outside chance of 1) based on the Telegraph reports of the refinancing deal. Though I still think it is more likely that they will put the acquisition debt on the club despite categorically ruling that out when they took over.

I'm hoping 2) is almost a dead cert -they've got to announce this alongside the financing, as why else would the decision have been delayed from that meeting last week?

    3) should be simple if they really do back him. Mentioning it alongside the stadium and financing would be a good way of doing it, as to make another statement purely about the manager would just cause even more turmoil.

Unless, of course, all of their public statements on the manager, the stadium and refinancing have been lies.

I think the only way they could win the fans back is giving Rafa some serious funds, stop talking in the press and backing the manager in public. But to be honest I think a lot of fans will never warm to them again, me included.

Just believe and you never know what will happen.

According to Benitez it's important not simply to go out to win but to go out prepared to win, which means players have to put in the same level of work on a daily basis. Anything else is unacceptable.

If that is the only thing they can do to turn things around, then i would suggest they are ****ed.

I beginning to doubt if there's any way back for them, fans are on Rafa's side and whatever they say now what has happened previously will always be there and be brought up by the press after a bad result or cup exit etc
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I'll never warm to them again - it's just when everything is going to ****, instead of sitting around thinking "oh my god, everything is going to ****", I try and think about any possible way in which things could be turned round.

As I see it there are three major issues. 1) it seems they lied about not putting the acquisistion debt onto the club. 2) The new stadium plans have been revisited three times now and there's still no signs of building. 3) and most importantly, the way they've treated Rafa.

Theoretically, none of the three are irredeemable if they are telling the truth in their public statements. So what is it? Are they going to salvage things after so nearly ****ing everything up? Or are they really a bunch of lying cunts who are destroying our club? The evidence points towards the latter, but we'll find out for sure in the very near future.

OK, can someone please tell me why they would want to keep the club if they are struggling so much financially? Does it not make more business sense for them to sell up and make a quick return?
