world class wingers

Bit of a change of subject on here:

I was trying to think of a list of world class wingers around at the moment. Could only really think of Ronaldo and Robben (when fit and not rolling around on the floor!!). Are there any others?

I know some of you would say Mancini but Ive never been overly impressed with him when Ive seen him play.

Ah yeah, Ribery is an obvious one!

Havent seen much of Silva though. From what Ive seen/heard he's more of a Luis Garcia type player rather than a 'proper' winger

Spot on - if Vicente had not been injured for the last years, you would have seen him playing in a different to Left Wing

I feel Jeremy Menez will become one in the next two years.

Quaresma can reach that level under the right guidance and working with someone who can sort out his head, which is his biggest problem. He's got the technique and pace to do well at a top level but not the mentality at the moment. His game isn't "mature" enough for his age.

Eastern Europe tends to be an area that churns out decent quality wingers/wide midfielders, if not always world class.

Currently, there is:

Stankovic
Kalinichenko
Zhirkov
Petrov
Srna
Salihamidzic
Krynovek

We could probably do worse than scout this region for cut-price wideboys.

I wouldn't consider Silva or Ribery as wingers in the traditional sense. They can play out wide but they don't hug the touchline and get alot of crosses in. The pair of them are very clever players and can create alot of chances when they cut into the middle of the pitch.

that Menez is looking tasty, but I agree with the Eastern Europe point, how much better would our wing attack look with Petrov there? He didnt cost citeh much either (in the grand schem of things)
